Here in Sweden you can’t keep human ashes. It’s illegal. I’d imagine flushing them would be a problem too.

Human remains aren’t allowed to be kept. I’ve no idea about human faeces.

I think combining the remains with faeces is probably illegal, because you aren’t allowed to debase them.

According to Skatteverket, a deceased must be cremated or buried within a month of death. If they get cremated, then the ashes need to be buried within a year. There can be exceptions, the page says

            • Should the relatives be in disagreement about funerary arrangements
            • In case a relative is unable to organise it, e.g. due to sickness
            • In case a survivor is to be buried alongside
            • In case the departed has donated their body, e.g. for science

No idea if you can turn loved ones into gemstones here, I’d assume not. I’d also assume that if you’re waiting with burying the cremated remains of someone because they’re to be laid to rest alongside a loved one, you’re also not allowed to keep said remains at home.

That makes sense, it’s just blowing my American mind, where an urn on the mantle is extremely commonplace. My brother and I both an urn with our mother’s remains, for instance.

Right? I’ve a friend in England who has a little urn with some of their mother’s ashes. I’m personally planning on keeping my dog’s ashes when he passes. However, apparently keeping a human is a no-no.

Sweden has this rep of being very liberal and free, but there’s a lot going on here that’s baffling. We’ve got some of the highest drug related deaths in Europe, and every single party in parliament is for the heavy criminalisation of drug use. It’s like the one thing they’re all agreeing on. We even did some stop-and-frisk for a while!

I bet the ashes thing is an old law, probably based on religion. I’d imagine they just never saw a need to change it, and too few people cared about it to ask for it to be changed

They’re ashes of a person. Some places have laws against the desecration of human remains that would apply to ashes; flushing them down the toilet would probably count

Since always. We can call people with insane political ideologies something other than human if it makes us more comfortable but the fact of the matter is that the scummiest most vile people in history are still human, and writing them off as “well they were a monster, completely inhuman” disarms us from the very human evils that we face today.

They may not be throwing around hitler salutes, but are still incredibly racist and would love for entire groups to just be killed.

So why shouldn’t we treat them exactly like they treat others?

Source, please. You are telling us to ignore our eyes and ears. We can see the nazis. They are here among us.

Don’t get all semantic now. It doesn’t need to originate in 1930’s Germany to be a real nazi. A sparkling nazi gets treated like a nazi.

Killing a nazi isn’t “murder”. One of the elements of the crime of “murder” in every state is that the victim must be human.

If people, including academics and professionals, are constantly and aptly comparing your political policies and rhetoric to Nazis: you may want to do some introspection.

But it isn’t really much of a comparison or analogy any more. It’s simply a statement of fact. Much of the American right-wing are neo-Nazis, or at least like to LARP as genocidal Christian nationalists as a grift.

I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but your fucking country has concentration camps and is enabling genocide while ramping up its own.

In fact, the most credible defense that they aren’t Nazis is that they’re not really into it and just using the affect as a grift while capital rapes the country to death.

Dead nazi can’t do thing to you and overacting based on hatred or paranoia are counter productive.

Just throw the ash at river or beach, or fine dump it on toilet but don’t share it and act like you are doing something good pleae.

… but don’t share it and act like you are doing something good…

But, flushing a nazi down the toilet is the nicest way to treat a nazi. Why are you so upset by a little bit of light-hearted nazi flushing?

We should pass a law that requires disposal of all nazi carcasses via ash-flushing.

Blend you with tofu, mix with a paper slurry to make recycled paper, print copies of the satanic bible on you, place those free bibles in hotel rooms in LGBTQIA friendly tourist destinations during pride, rip out your pages and burn them with charcoal on a grill where I cook grilled vegan food that i give to the poor, while Macklemore is playing… AND BE DOUBLE WOKE DURING ALL OF IT!!!

Sorry for what? That my mother voted for Trump, went so far down the Q Anon hole that she publicly spewed anti vaccine propaganda, ultimately caught a bad case of Covid while having basically all of the high risk morbidity issues, barely managed to survive, then spend the last 2 years of her life as basically an invalid and ultimately die surrounded by garbage and dog shit?
