First week starting a new job. My sleep schedule was absolute garbage before.
The 3rd day I accidentally hit “stop” instead of “snooze” on my alarm. Woke up at 11am (start time was 9am).
Luckily they didn’t fire me. But my coworkers all thought I was an alcoholic for the next few months. Fun times…
That’s why I set up 2 alarms.
I have literally 5 alarms, all with different ring tones. Cell phones have changed my life.
Yup, one on the watch and one on the phone.
I’m also considering adding a third, dumb alarm clock so that I’m not relying on Android-powered devices to wake me up reliably every morning. Sometimes I forget to charge them, you know?
I have 7 alarms for this reason. Typically by the third alarm I’m starting to get out of bed
I hate that instant click in your brain where you go “SHITTTTT!!!” and start running to get ready.
Just a terrible feeling for the rest of the day.
Whoever came up with the concept of time and alarms, I hope they are suffering for it eternally!
Time was invented by clock companies to sell more clocks.
Big Clock. Go suck it!
Your boss: Yeah, that is stupid. The working day should end when I say so!
Yeah, if they hadn’t come up with the concept of time there’d be no eternity to suffer through.
Reminds me of one time I had a 7am meeting I was supposed to run and woke up nice and rested at 8 30. It was a special feeling when it slowly dawned on me that it was light outside and I checked the time.
There are few things as athletic as the flying leap you do out of bed when it strikes you that you feel too good for a weeknight and check the time
I did this the other day and just said fuck it. Took the day off. Told the kids they don’t have to go to school either. We just gamed all day and ate sushi and pizza.
Adopt me.
Me too. Please.
Itsa me Maaaa … ??? … HOLY FUCKING SHIT I SLEPT THROUGH MY ALARM!!!
well it’s either that or stare at a wall for 40 minutes instead of getting ready
I’m staring at the wall on the inside of my eyelids. taps temple
This is a very easy problem to solve, set an alarm 30 minutes before you wake up and snooze it three times, and then you will be awake by the time your actual alarm goes off. If that doesnt work increase to 45m-60m. This way you get to go back to sleep several times before you have to get up. Lets your brain cath up to capitalism. Those 10 minute gaps between snoozes end up feeling like 20-30m each.
This kind of sleep is not actually restorative and it ends up training your brain into making it even harder to wake up in the morning.
For me its the opposite and you are only waking up like a 5 seconds to hit snooze, you fall back asleep instantly. You might find yourself going to bed 30 minutes earlier or something but who cares? I dont fight sleep so that helps. I really enjoy my sleep. I also enjoy the morning time now because im super comfortable for like 30 minutes before i go to work as my mind slowly wakes up.
I’m happy this works for you but it would fuck my brain up royally. When the alarm goes off my brain tries to wake up and after a bit I will go back to sleep. A second alarm 10 minutes later will then fully wake me up but i have 3 back ups with completely different ring tones so my brain doesn’t get used to them and just block them out. I also choose pleasant yet attention grabbing tunes to avoid the blocking out problem. You’d be surprised at how effectively your brain can block a sound it doesn’t like. It’s why I’ve long avoided getting the alarms with the typical alarm sound.
Lets your brain cath up to capitalism.
Tf does this mean?
I think they meant to type catch not cath. And the implication is that without capitalism you would not have to wake up at a particular time thus necessitating an alarm to wake you at a particular time in the morning.
This is not how you solve that problem.
This is a recipe for disaster.
I have been doing it for years and i always wake up easily. It works very well for me. The issue I have is im slow to wake up. Since i decided to try this, I never really had any issue unless i only had a few hours of sleep.
still dangerous to shut it off even after snoozing a few times
I set an extra alarm at my last time, so if i accidently turn it off I still have a backup.
Did this this morning. Mistake.
Same, but everyone else came even later than me heh. 1st of September being the day you can’t purchaise alco as easy did just what these restrictions always do.
Wait, what? Who restricts the sale of drugs based on calendar date??
Russia and I guess some other ex soc-block countries. 1st of September is the day of celebrating children opening their school season. Moralists restricted regular sale, probably thinking some drinking parents would meet them sober for once, but nodded along on the sale of on-the-table alcohol, a loophole that allows regular bars, restaurants and lookalikes to sell unscrewed bottles, sometimes providing you with a cap so you screw it closed yourself, just like it happens in my area. The other offender is being overprepped for the ban, and that’s what led to my morning demise since I did buy more than I used to consume due to said regulation.
Does alco mean alcohol? Some states/counties in the US restrict sales based on day and time?
Does alco mean alcohol?
That’s what I’m assuming, yes.
have you tried “not sleeping”?
Going to bed at adequate time helps tremendously.
Waking up early still feels pretty shitty though, at least in the first hour. I sleep at 8PM and get up at around 4AM, so a full 8 hours, but it’s still possible for me to just fall asleep again and wake up at 6AM. It is not that I prefer sleeping for 10 hours either, because I usually have a mild headache during the days in which I overslept, and if I sleep at 10PM I wake up at 6AM feeling pretty normal. My guess is that this may be because of the lack of light earlier in the morning, but who knows.
I’ve been looking into daylight simulation alarms just to test this, but I feel like they’re a lot more expensive than they should be as LED lights on a timer (60USD).
