I started with one of the optimized packs and then added stuff I thought was useful: maps, minimaps, backpacks, way stones, ultimine via enchants.

After I played that for a while and beat most of the game I wanted to, I tried a vanilla plus pack, betterMC. It had a lot of the same mods but more. After I finished that, I went with allthemods10, but at that point you do need youtube and discord open to ask questions or look up how to do certain things.

Anyways, had a blast with all of it, I’m on vacation now so I’m playing no mods on my steam deck and as long as I turn on keep inventory its not bad at all. The new copper update is pretty cool!

Edit: just want to add that applied energistics and mekanism are fantastic mods, I’d put them up there with create, so if you haven’t tried them it might be worth just adding one or both to an otherwise unmodded playthrough.

If you have a microcenter somewhat close by, they get refurbished 20 and 30 series cards all the time for really good prices. They let you come back and return/swap it out if you dont like it too. Last I looked my store just got a shipment of 4080s that are priced at 750$ as well.

We would have to include used game consoles too then, which I think is fair. If we are talking about just the desktop box and no peripherals though, I think we could make an equivalent xbox one or ps5 for close to the same price. Thats assuming the purchaser is tech savvy enough to navigate deals at places like newegg and microcenter.

I have a 3080ti and its even less, and I’m still on max settings in every game at 1440p.

It only worked for fortnite, I thought I made that explicit but if I didnt, my bad. For some reason fortnite console version allows mouse and keyboard, at least thats why I think it works.

The problem is that he biggest networked games, I.e. those with the most players online, won’t work on linux. Until fortnite or apex legends or LoL allow linux machines, people will be stuck on windows so they can still play with their friends. The same thing happens with most of the sports games except those players are almost entirely on console, and they are locked in there.

Because it allows them to collect and process more data, which can be used or sold, increasing their profits.

You can run them alternative ways usually. Fortnite works with mouse and keyboard through gamepass, although gamepass is a shit deal just for fortnite.

I know a lot of people dual boot or use a virtual machine with windows on it too.
