100% South Georgia!
Also to ruin the joke: people who use methamphetamine will use a piece of tin foil to vaporize the crystal.
I came here wondering. Thank you
…what’s even the reason to open it?
So people who cannot afford it will not keep opening a series of brand new boxes just to sneak a small square to smoke drugs off of.
O_o
It’s ok, be glad you’re clearly too European to get this. Leave the Americans to deal with their problems
Like we don’t have addicts doing stupid stuff in Europe
But you don’t have aluminum foil over there. You only have aluminium, it’s a completely different situation, you wouldn’t understand.
as everyone knows, aluminium foil is completely unusable as drug paraphernalia.
We use lead foil like God intended.
Yeah… al-you-min-EE-um
Of course we do, but at least in Western Europe we take better care of them. There’s generally social welfare programs, shelters, etc. In Amsterdam there’s shelters where they can safely use crack so they have access to clean supplies.
The question “like we DON’T have them” is kind of silly. It’s about how predominant the problem is, not whether we also have a couple.
The US has several times the crack user per capita compared to Europe, depending on where in Europe.
The CIA worked very hard to get those numbers where they are thank you very much.
Some people are just assholes though. There was some junkies poking used needles in lemons in stores here to clean them some years ago, even though they could get free needles
Yes some people are just assholes, that is true. The point is there’s several times more assholes per capita in the US.
O, crack users I mean of course.
I am North American, and I have never seen this before.
Am Canadian and have never noticed it before but I have no doubt it happens in my city. I never thought about how they get that stuff

I ve heard from someone in europe how a shopkeeper frequently has candy bars stolen.
The candy gets tossed on the street, its the foil they want.
“Having heard from someone” this or that is a whole different category than the extent of the drug problems in the US.
“I’ve heard from someone there’s this American Football team in Amsterdam, so basically football is the most popular sport in Europe now.”
I wasn’t really comparing the severity of drug problems in the US vs Europe.
Just that the phenomenon is not exclusive to the US just like being naive about drugs isn’t exclusive to Europe.
Of course it’s not exclusive to the US? The severity is exactly what is noteworthy about the situation in the US though.
What do you mean with being naive about drugs? I don’t think in Europe we’re naive about it, we know there’s addiction here as well but we generally try to take care of addicts as fellow human beings instead of excluding them from society and making the situation worse.
Fake news
They would obviously eat the candy also
Not on crack they wouldn’t
I would have assumed the same but the littering of the candy bars was a specific part of the problem.
I have little reason to believe this person was lying, i also don’t want to give to much if their personal detail context online but fair i wasn’t there myself to witness it.
Hey, spoons cost money.
Looking at the roll on the left, and the phrasing “considerate of others habits” I’m gonna guess people were chewing on the foil.
Uhm… no? It’s used to burn crystal drugs or something like that to smoke them. It’s sadly common in southern states.
Ya’ll?
Misspelled. It’s y’all.
“Yaw?”
“All of you” “You all” general Americanism for referencing a group of people.
Unless that’s not what you are asking
The correct term is, “all y’all”.
That’s accurate because there is more than likely more than one person stealing foil for drug use.
You are thinking of y’all, which is a southern American slang contraction of “you all.” However, this person put “ya’ll,” so it’s a contraction of “ya will.”
Either way, neither really fits on the context of the sentence. I wish they had just said poor addicts if that’s who they meant to imply. Shame on me for projecting if I’m misinterpreting.
Y’all’ll
y’all’d’ve
Yalla
“Y’all” spelled “ya’ll” bugs the shit out of me. It’s my “I’m a descriptivist until…” Moment.
But “we … For y’all people” absolutely is how they’d say it where I’m from. The quotes around the word read to me like they’re shaming them (which, honestly, in the South, I’m sure I’m sure they are), but the sentence structure itself is perfectly in line with how it’s normally spoken in my experience.
It’s like an extra plural of “you people”, to include a broader range of “you people” instead of the singular plural.
Hopefully the linguist hippies can explain.
“What do you mean “you people?” 😠”
Youse peoples
Not to be confused with yoots.
Guys
Oh everyone decided to be an asshole about a fun cultural question, sorry you’re all so fucking fragile. I’ll retract my question about “ya’ll” being in quotes because that’s apparently taboo to ask and I should just know because I’m english and there’s no cultural differences at all between different english speaking countries. What a fool I am and you’re all very smart, bigly. I’ll refrain from asking about harmless curiosities in the future since apparently that’s a free ticket to be a snide douche canoe.
Damn dude, I didn’t think I was rude at all to you. Just thought you didn’t understand the word and offered a judgment free explanation. Fuck me for trying to be nice I guess.
That’s a separate issue. Some are concerned that Y’all is spelled Ya’ll, but you’re concerned about the quotes.
That’s to alert the right people to the open foil. The writer knows who they’re addressing, and the right people reading it understand. It’s kind of a “If You know, You know” sort of situation.
Someone like my mom would think the store was being considerate, leaving a sample roll to inspect the quality, like when you check out the eggs.
She doesn’t know it’s to keep the tweakers from stealing the corner of every roll of foil in the store. Honestly, she doesn’t even know what tweakers are.
Wow, your English is pretty good for a Canadian. Did you go to international school or did you grow up in the rough part of Canada?
those are just regular quotation marks
Was just pointing out the typo.
Lol bold of them to think y’all people can or will read. Much less give a shit. Fuck I’m so sick of crackheads
ya’ll people*
Ain’t learned me none!
Is not there fought they are adicted they can prob read and they do give a shit ab ppl and the world adiction is js stronger than all of that. Adicts need help they dont need to be villified please have some compassion
Am I having a stroke or are you?
He’s just on crack. ^(joking)
I do try, but it’s tough walking out my front door every day, and the world is that much shittier because there’s crackheads just leaving trash and detritus everywhere they go. Smoking their drugs in broad daylight on the side of the road. Dodging the needles with every other step. Listening to their arguments and fights every night. They make everything shittier by their presence.
Make the best of a bad situation. Bring them water, tell them about the valuable batteries and often computers and cameras in Flock cameras.
I get the frustration, but don’t be mad at the crackheads. Drug abuse is just another symptom of the shitty system we live in. Be mad at the people who are responsible for that system instead.
Idk, I’ve been dealing with this shit my entire adult life. I’m kinda running out of compassion for people who lie steal and strew garbage. I can’t wear sandal outside my house. I can’t have a bike because they get stolen. I get to clean up after them each and every day. I’m so sick of it. Fuck em
I understand youre issues and i am sad you have to deal with that but casting blame on addicts instead of the systems that madr them addicts and keep them addicted is js gonna make the problem worse
This is what I learned from watching the wire also
This is by far one of the best comment threads I’ve ever read through!
