the cover letting is pratically begging for the job. forgot the celebrity in the picture name, i assume she recently made the comment" just find your passion and not do any other job until you do". many people commented said , yea if you are WEALTHY. aka, cherry pick your jobs.
If a job ever asks me for a video, I’m just gonna bend over and show my ass hole cuz I’m 'bout to get fucked.
My local chain grocery store has asked us, local people, multiple times to apply as we have been shopping and slightly chatting with the staff. We have applied via the chain’s systems. And yes, they expect you to send your CV and a written letter. Then you write out all the info in your CV to their forms. Then you take 5-10 videos of yourself answering their questions.
If you make through this, you get to the Second Level. There you’re supposed to attend a Teams group meeting where you “fight” with random people who are also applying for the jobs, in different locations.
If you get through this, you get to the Third Level where you will be invited to another Teams meeting with one-on-one interview. If you get through this, you might get the job.
The job search is obviously not done by the local store, it’s a “service” the chain buys from some other company. None of us have gotten through. The store seriously needs employees, they have the “search” constantly open and keep asking the locals to apply. The store has too little workers, it’s not working properly. Shelves are unstocked, fruits rotten, staff is cranky and angry. The boss complains in local newspaper that “the locals just aren’t applying for some reason!”
that manager is dumber than an 8 year old.
They can’t decide between fighting for Control, eg centralization, and having more visibility into what people are like as people.
The mine they want to avoid is the total slacker - someone just collecting paychecks, leaning back on worker protection laws, with no concern for the store. Or, the single mom with 8 other responsibilities and no chance of making it to her shifts. Really, that concern could be resolved with 5 minutes of contact with any decision maker. That quick coffee chat where they say “Yeah, you’re all right”. But decisionmakers are now the people with ultra tinted SUV windows who hiss at any contact with the public.
The most unbelievable part of this is teams working long enough to make it happen
You can’t really expect to get a good result without competition and a little vetting.
why use a 3rd party recruit system, if they cant find people, this would be costco level of “hiring” except minus costco is great place to work compared all other chains. since costco is somewhat competitive, i heard its quite hard to get a job there, that isnt night time.
i heard this for certain companies like legacy techs, but not a grocery chain. Our grocery chain(WF) is so desperate they will hire almost anyone, the turnover was very high, because they decided skeleton crew some of the departments, via budget cuts, understaffing. the ones that quit were OVERworked, blamed for not doing enough by higher ups(Manager roles). front end, cs has the worst experience, followed by prepared foods.
Seriously? They make you fight other people for the spot? At a grocery store? Massive red flag, right up front.
That is why I always take a knife to my applications. In case I have to fight other applicants, or HR themselves.
That would not only make me not work there, but also not shop there.
In a small town with only two grocery stores, and the other one being mad expensive premium one… Not much of choice.
Can you show the boss the application process/complain yourself in the newspaper? Unless you don’t really care, because that’s kind of a hassle either way
I contacted two newspapers at the time, no luck.
Solution: Misdemeanor larceny!
You know they don’t have full time LP.
…could this be about Netto and Edeka?
So either corporate doesn’t want to hire; it looks good in the financials that there’s less spend on employees. Or the 3rd party hr gets paid per person I interviewed so it’s not in their interests to actually land a person at the job - that would only stop them being able to charge for interviews for the position. Either way, it’s a massive fuck up and will destroy the company.
This is a wonderful encapsulation of the dysfunction of modern corporations.
WTF
Just life in Finland! thumb-emoji
Wait this is in Finland? At that level of dystopian I was expecting it to be in the USA… That is an insane application process for a grocery store job.
Absolutely agree. I think it would be kinda understandable for something that requires +1 university degrees and pays like +3k€ a month… But for a grocery store clerk making about 1,5k€/month? Nahh.
// EDIT; Finland is the true MAGA-Fanboy of EU.
Finland is the true MAGA-Fanboy of the EU
I can see it. I mean, replace the knife with a gun and this guy looks angry enough to fit right in:

More than Hungary or (formerly, but still somewhat given Neofascism) Italy? Oh god.
In a way, probably. Our conservative party would like to quit public healthcare and go into a system with health insurances and only private, for-profit hospitals. They’d like get rid of public schools and imply yearly payments. Some of them would like to sell our groundwater to foreign countries as they have already done with out electric grid and postal services. They want to, and have, weakened labor laws and made it easier to fire people without proper reasons. They’re weakening unions. Hell, our conservative prez golfs with Trump. And not to even start with out nationalist party… Or the Christian party.
Our conservative party would like to quit public healthcare and go into a system with health insurances and only private, for-profit hospitals.
That’s exactly what they did here in Germany, and it’s as bad as you can imagine. 2nd class citizens (those who can’t afford or aren’t healthy enough to switch to private insurance) have to wait anything between 4 to 14 months on doctor’s appointments, the hospitals are chronically underfunded (but apparently very profitable), yet we pay hundreds of euros per month. Some specialists basically do not exist for the 2nd class (the few that still do it have zero appointments or are burned out). The usual waiting time for therapy is between 1 (if lucky) and 3 years. Doctors can’t freely prescribe everything they deem necessary as some things might cause claims for compensation by the insurance years later. Or the other way around, they’re enticed to prescribe “specific stuff” just to keep their “business” (the doctors office) afloat, since doctors only get paid once for each patient every quarter. The second appointment within 3 months already makes your doc work for free. Oh, also one appointment is deemed to be only 5 minutes long by insurances. In some regions you can’t even find a General Practitioner anymore, let alone a hospital. It’s deemed “unprofitable” there.
Hell, when I was in hospital there were about 5 nurses for up to 32 cancer (!) patients with up to 8 of them in isolation rooms (including me for a while). At night there was ONE nurse (looked like a refugee desperate for a job) for the WHOLE station. During chemo the bladder doesn’t work too well, I had to call the nurse and waited about 25 minutes in the middle of the night next to a wet bed after scrambling for clean clothes before he stormed in, changed the whole bed in 60 seconds without saying anything and storming back out. I’ll never forget that, if I was still capable to feel a lot inbetween pain, dizzyness and nausea I would’ve felt incredibly alone.
There’s only one thing all of this causes, which is more money for rich people and higher numbers on stock markets. If they push that shit through you’ll suffer.
You can’t really have a society if you allow Christians in.
Here you go, you can copy mine: 👍
What the actual fuck is this?
Corporate Hunger games?
corporate kiss assing. since they use things to ask if you are good fit, its mostly kissing thier ass, and playing nall with thier “corporate culture”. job gap, and “what do you see your self in 5 years” probably guaging if you flake on the company as soon as you are hired.
I’m starting to think this is what’s happening to the local stores in my neighborhood that are only small but still part of a bigger franchise. They are always understaffed and looking for new staff.
i notice grocery stores burn people out so they have turn over, hence the shortstaffing. but in my area, one bougie chain pride itself on “eco friendly” just burns people out and budget cuts the deparments. recently our meat cutting/sandwich(hot food) deparment when through some cuts to the budget on an already understaff dept, and 5 people left immediately.(due to asking them do this or that more than thier role required)
I wonder if the grocery store could just hire you directly and cut out the middle man? Like just approach the boss and be like. I need a job. You need worker. Gimme a contract and I’ll start tomorrow
ours use online portals(indeed, or the main website), but we also have job fairs right in the store to hire people on the spots, so that is a plus. the job fairs are rare though(i think Indeed has listing when some happens?)
The store manager doesn’t have hiring authority, applications have to come through corporate.
Damn, that’s really lame
We have tried that, but it always comes back to the “please apply by our web portal” and then to “why don’t we get any aplications?”
i wonder if its just to say they had people applying, but the company is using that to lower thier taxes with thier countries tax schemes or not hire enough to justify a budget.
Could be that or it could even be that the service went to shit and they have no way of getting out of contract. I talked to one guy who worked C-suite at a small company and apparently the previous CEO before his boss sign a shit contract back in 2018 for hiring services from one of these companies, they want to terminate it but even circumnavigation of the contract risks severe penalties, their solution to getting new staff is to literally have people spin up a shell company buy and absorb it then onboard the socalled employees.
Frankly it seems these hiring companies are just parasites that popped up due to companies not knowing how to do online shit. Then fucking everyone over via shitty contracts.
What a modern nightmare.
I mean, it fits. Name one thing in today’s world that isn’t a modern nightmare. I guess I’m not constantly fighting off wolves, but modern wolves have your neck in their throat from the time you’re born. It’s wild to me that American kids as young as 14 fought in WW2 because they simply lied about their age. You could just do that and it’d get you through. I need 36 forms of ID and 2 written letters from close friends to get my water turned on when I move.
applying to certain programs/job (technicians) are outrageous too. i was looking at a job recently pharm related, you need to buy this course/ or go to school/ or work 500hrs(working in a pharmacy chain) to apply to take the national cert exam , and then in our state you have to get a LICENSE on top of the certification(CALI), each has its seperate cost: pre- certification course, the certification test itsef, the LICENSING, which has different areas that has its own cost(application fee, livescan, self-query fee). since its a health technician(not a tech as in programming) your wages, depending where you live could be slightly higer or higher than min wage, or at min wage(HCOL=higher wage, LCOL lower wages) for the whole BS process, oh and it takes months to process the license, and these are just HS- required jobs.
Yeah I’m glad I got called back after layoffs. Technology was supposed to make our lives easier, but all it’s done is give more hoops to jump through and more surveillance.
i find odd that the pharm job(not pharmacist) require so much invasive datamining in cali to get a stupid license for such a underpaid job, they do all the dirty work pharmacists dont do.
It’s because you’re working with drugs. That being said, if they want to make sure you’re not selling them, they should really pay better.
This seems like the sort of hiring process to get a bunch of people selected for just to grief the system and provide feedback, as a community.
1.5 months 2 interviews. 40 applications. This is for all entry level/ sub 20 an hour jobs. Tbf it’s summer so it’s dry as fuck
With 8 years of customer service experience they eeked out an additional 15 cents an hour. Kill me now.
I love how some will require you to re input the same information again, despite a resume upload.
About to start putting domestic terrorist on the resume soon if nothing hits
when i was applying after graduated with my "degree’ summer were the worst time to apply. i also noticed the more you apply the more bridges you burn with certain companies, because you start to see the same company again, and think you can apply to a different role, nope company has your email on file already.
mask up, leave no prints, and have someone keep watch
You are now a mercenary working for a shadowy “defense contractor”.
If you had the choice between coming to work on time or attending the joint funeral of your child, spouse and parents what would you chose?
“I’d show up to work early. I can visit their graves on my day off later this year (if I take it). There’s just too much shareholder value at stake for me to be inaccessible for an hour during the week”
I feel like you’re a good candidate but that is just not enough. We are looking for the best of the best who go above and beyond and I feel like you just miss that little extra you know the last little bit on top
Unfortunately this job posting was never real in the first place
Of course I would choose to coms to work on time! Why would you even ask?
I felt that with most bigger corporations, where it was a shitload of sometimes very abstract questions, asking the same thing in different words, all that sort of stuff and then having you answer some of that same stuff on video. I guess it’s to try and see if you’re a good “culture fit” without having to actually meet you.
Then in a smaller company it was a few questions and sending your CV online. I got a call next morning inviting me to an interview, which was very much a “let’s get a feel of this guy”, a firm handshake, done and done. It felt so good after all that big corporation horseshit.
most companies dont even go that far to look at your resume. before AI started trashing resume, they had softwares to screen out keywords/accept keywords and the hiring managers never see it, because the software just trashed the resume. AI made it 100x worst.
Nothing feels more dehumanising than applying for a job in 2026 with a big company*
and getting past thier Ai filters, and they have the audacity to say people are using AI to make thier resumes for them and MASS apply.
They seem to view people as “human capital” to be expended with minimal waste, then let go for efficiency when their usefulness has been outlived (or sufficiently replicated by AI)
the local taco bell has a sign up saying “we’re hiring, inquire within to apply”. i havent seen that in years. i wonder if people are giving up navigating online job hunting
pre-pandemic, i actually tried applying through (when someone takes a picture of job hiring sign , with email contact) and uploads it to the job sites, nope, no responses at all, why bother putting it up if they are never going to look at thier email. one chain near me does job fairs so they hire people as fast as they can, but i doubt most places are like this.
is .mov acceptable?
part 1 & 2
Has to be .mov, .mov is not supported
CSV. Comma Separated Videos.
Submit your CVS CSV CV for this pharmacy job please.
this got me wondering if anyone ever submitted a résumé to cvs on a roll of receipt paper.
the toxic thermal paper. you can write your whole resume and CV on there, probably your linkenin profile.
they want my aircraft carrying nuclear wessel?
Yes, they like to .mov it .mov it
Only if it ends in .mp4.
Typical dom/sub fetish stuff
You have to go through this even when you’re applying for something like shelf stacking at your local store. It’s truly ridiculous.
assuming you get past the AI being used to screen out more candidates than before the pandemic. and then we have users spamming them with AI generated resumes.
Add a scan of your government issued ID as well since they’re getting a scan of your face too.
also livescan your fingerprints, and selfquery yourself. for health technician, needs a laborous license process too, and certification test on top of that.
Prerequisite: You must be Anne Hathaway
I’ll get on my knees and beg for Anne Hathaway.
This hurts me.
Don’t forget to lick their boots and say “yes master” once you are hired.
