Unfortunately, these days it feels like there’s poison in almost everything, as if they’re trying to kill us faster.
-At least- The Netherlands, Sweden and Finland are taking an offense !

Not a shitpost, but don’t eat too much black licorice all at once, it can cause heart problems. Too much of the glycyrrhizin produced naturally in the plant’s root that’s used to make black licorice causes your kidneys to flood potassium out into your blood and it’ll mess up the electrical signals in your heart. You have to eat like two bags a day for two weeks though.
Eh, I can’t eat it anymore, anyway. Gives me a headache.
Most licorice candy is actually made from anise root, which has no glycyrrhizin.
Too honest to be coming from this FDA
Nordics: Good. More for us.
It tastes like shit and there is some evidence it even lowers testosterone. It has no redeeming qualities
In that case, foreign armies could deploy millions of bags of them at invading US military, turning them Low-T and making Pete Hegseth fire them! Tactics. Always tactics.

I know this a shitpost, because yet another food item legitimately has shit in it, this is now a constant problem in America.
I can only presume it’s because the workers are treated extremely badly, remunerated poorly, and the corpos face no consequences for apparently disgusting factories, and there’s no regulations?
There’s no reason this should happen in a modern factory, there should be three hand wash stations before a worker even gets close to the food.
“American food tastes like shit”
Nah, it’s just that some people don’t like the flavor of anise.
Okay but for real a little anise in a few recipes makes them taste right. I do not like the taste of black licorice but I keep a little star anise in the spice cupboard and a small piece makes ramen taste right.
Yeah but you have to keep your anise clean and hygienic if you want people to eat it
Sir, this is a Wendy’s.
I think rats and birds in the factories are the main source of shit contamination in american foods factories
It’s an acquired taste. Of shit.
And what of root beer?
not surprised, american liquorice has a tragic lack of ammonium chloride
Salmiak is life.
To be fair, there’s probably plenty of lead in it.
Well, yeah, we like to shoot at our licorice, as is tradition.
oh it’s sweet liquorice? :/
Moved to Sweden, tried salted licorice. Somehow even worse. Ammonium chloride is legitimately the worst flavor I’ve ever had in my mouth and I put everything in there
Worst flavor? Have you tried petrol or brake fluid?
don’t think we have those flavours of candy in stock but i’ll check in the back
Or you’re just weak. If my candy isn’t trying to kill me, what’s the point.
I tried one of the saltiest ones there while actively suffering from kidney failure so it was literally killing me.
It tasted amazing.
Their actual quote is “recalled 100 tons for possible fecal contamination”.
But it’s not any more real than OP’s image
Liquorice allsorts were a fixture of my childhood. Haven’t had them in decades.

The best part is that clump only counts as one piece.
I get them in the Dutch section in the “international foods” aisle in my local grocery story. (I know they’re from more places than the Netherlands, that’s just where I find them.)
Current fda is so fucked they probably like black licorice.
They’d be correct for once!
Laughs in Dutch
I don’t understand. I honestly love black licorice.
They wouldn’t even make it if no one liked it. I also like dishes that use fennel or anise.
Always have and always will. Red licorice is the garbage one.
Red licorice isn’t even licorice.
I’m the opposite. Cannot stand a hint of licorice or anise in any shape or form. It had made me genuinely gag in the childhood. Nowadays it’s just unpleasant to an extreme degree.
P.S.:
I’m not dunking on the thing. If you like, you like. Good for you.I also love licorice =)
I really like licorice root tea, and when I was a kid I’d take the seeds out of star anise pods and suck on them XD
Also a black licorice fan. Got to try a Dutch licorice pipe once and it was great.
I was in my teens, I think, the first time a friend said they liked black licorice. I really thought they were kidding, just blew my mind. I mean, if you like something, you like it, can’t really argue with that. Still.
I think the flavor is too strong on its own for people to appreciate, but you may be surprised how it has been used in dishes you loved.
I want to stay in bed, eating black licorice.
🤘
It’s like eating a tire in the best way
More for me.
