I’m mad about seeing this song related to the news so many times because it doesn’t make sense. It’s not about the star in the centre of our star system, which is the star that’s named Sun, it has nothing to do with “black hole sun”. Only our star and system is named Sun and solar system. The general name is star and star system. Relating this song like this is like if there were news about another planet with an oxygen atmosphere and everyone saying “ooh, it’s just like that song named “oxygen earth””.
You are a fool to be upset about this because of this definition you decided on.
Every novel I’ve ever seen written about being on another planet has used the term sun or suns to refer to the stars in those stories.
Every movie has referenced the sun as the star that gives to term sunny day.
Many shows I have seen have had alien characters reference the sun of their home worlds as their suns.
It’s easy to accept that the term sun, as used by human beings for the last 100 ish years, uses the term sun to refer to many different stars that aren’t in the Sol System.
It absolutely makes sense for exactly the same reason Chris Cornell wrote the song. He imagined what a black hole sun would even be, which is pretty fucking fantastic to find an object that was given a name before it was even conceived of as a concept.
And you cant see the awesomeness of that happening? You must be mad at every science fiction, fantasy story that’s ever existed. It’s just as rediculous as you being mad at this

Given all the letters are capitalised in the post and all the first letters of each word are capitalised in the song title (as is done with titles), and given Chris Cornell is dead, we’ll never know if he was referring to our Sun or a sun. Also our star’s name is Sol.
He is quoted as mishearing a weather reporter say the term black hole sun and it made him think about what that would mean after he realized he misheard what was asked but he kept thinking about what that would even mean.
He considered if our sun was a different sun, so its definately not a reference to the sun we actually have.

I love that song, makes all my hairs stand on end like I’m hearing some fundamental emotional truth or something, but theres absolutely no meaning to any of it, just a bunch of words he thought sounded cool.
Maybe I’m primed by knowing about Chris Cornell’s depression, but I always interpreted the lyrics as a prayer for death. Like everything sucks, so he’s asking for the sun to go supernova and take us all away.
Weirdly that never occurred to me before. Totally fits.

I didn’t bumble the physics. The point of the joke is that any number of things would prevent the person from cumming, even just the neutrino flux. It assumes a certain knowledge of physics. Then the “umm aktually” chud had to come out of the woodwork and ruin it.
