If there’s a draft, I hope the MAGAs cry when their kids and grandkids get dragged off to boot camp.

Might wanna look up the origin of fragging, why it was A Thing and how the circumstances not only destroyed the draft, but the US presence in vietnam

No, it’s about sending a message that immoral conscription has consequences. If it means sacrificing your own life to send that message, so be it.

“I became a terrorist and murdered an innocent person because I didn’t agree with someone else’s decision.”

The draft will never occur in the U.S. because we already have way to many people in the military. They don’t need to have a draft.

Now if we made education and healthcare accessible to everyone like we should, we might not have as many people volunteering to go.

Our military would grow to like 10x the current size if we had forced conscription like Israel or Korea.

          We couldn’t afford it.

Remember when everyone said Trump couldn’t win the election*? And since when has not having the money for war stopped the US from going to war? They just borrow against their kids.

Although I will point out that Trump and Elon bragged about rigging the election, that’s besides the point.

That’s just false. Most people hit by grenades live. They are also inventoried, and troops are in teams.

Why are people upvoting trying to murder someone they don’t even know. That’s just psychopathic.

Man, I did some light manual labor yesterday and I can barely stand today. I can’t go to fucking war without severely endangering every friendly around me.

So no, 45 is not the new thirty fucking anything.

People don’t want to fight pedos war in Petey’s army so they expanded to recruit pool.

Training will have to be different. I am already to fed up with crap to have a drill instructor yell at me. They can give instructions and support, but I’m not getting “instilled” with anything. Or maybe not. We see MAGA incel man cult guys paying thousands to get tormented at knock off BUDs training camps.

I’m not dying for rich people that got power and decided to break literally every stabilizing thing in geopolitics so that they could make more money and then start a war to cover it up.

I might die because of them, but there’s no way I’m dying for them. If they draft, I’m running. call me whatever you want.

In totalitarian regimes—communism, fascism, religious fundamentalism—popular support is a given. You can start wars, you can prolong them, you can put anyone in uniform for any length of time without ever having to worry about the slightest political backlash. In a democracy, the polar opposite is true. Public support must be husbanded as a finite national resource. It must be spent wisely, sparingly, and with the greatest return on your investment. America is especially sensitive to war weariness, and nothing brings on a backlash like the perception of defeat. I say “perception” because America is a very all-or-nothing society. We like the big win, the touchdown, the knockout in the first round. We like to know, and for everyone else to know, that our victory wasn’t only uncontested, it was positively devastating. -Max Brooks, World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War

        communism, fascism, religious fundamentalism

        democracy

Point of order, democracy is a mechanism for selecting leadership, not an ideology of governance.

Democracies routinely produce Communist, Fascist, and Religious Fundamentalist leaders.

Like, I know it’s a quote and all. But it’s just a Baby’s First PolySci view of how civilizations organize themselves. Not an ounce of Lockean Theory to be found.

That’s before you get into the reality of Republican governance and practical enfranchisement. You can’t go rolling up on Thomas Jefferson’s slaves and announcing “Idiots, it’s a democracy, why did you vote for this?”

Klinger’s problem was slow reaction. Had he acted before they initially saw him, maybe. My dad was drafted in Vietnam and always told me to go right up and deep kiss the guy taking names. Although I don’t think that would work as well now.

It would work, but only to keep you from getting drafted. You’d probably be in some sort of military brig for a good long while.

Much more effective* is to shoot the bastards. We all know how much americans talk about doing it…

*I’m not going to lie here, it’s not more effective for you, just for everyone else after a few more follow your example. You’d be consigning yourself to death.
