  • Sir, I posted elsewhere and it appears your expertice may help my experience. Android/web allows shuffle at the top for music. Roku only offers me shuffle in shows. Is there a way I can enable it in music and/or is there somewhere I could donate something small to your time to add a shuffle button to roku’s music client?

Edit: it’s very possible maybe I have my server or client settings set up wrong.

This is what I see on Android for the client under music

  • I run the server from Mint, play from Roku client. I have a copyparty server set up on that mint sever as well, and we resorted to pulling up the website and having a 80s competition, trying to top the other but not by much so we didn’t go to what we thought would be the best song right aways, which we played from our phones so the other could scroll and look. Hers Samsung, mine Motorola, so both android.

Edit: Just checked the Android app for jellyfin. It appears we jumped from jellyfin to copyparty to early, the jellyfin app has the shuffle button.

At least we still made it fun

  • We were using Jellyfin to watch old episodes of Sherlock Holmes last night, during a break we switched over to playing a few songs I had thrown on there. The interface for movies and shows seems great but my spouse asked me, “why is there a shuffle option for shows?” To which I said idk, maybe if someone watches something like family guy it doesn’t matter. But then when we were under my music section, I couldn’t for the life of me figure out how to use shuffle. It was probably user error, but it seemed strange

  • Whippets is a reference to inhaling the nitrous which causes a short temporary high (so you have to keep doing them I guess). I didn’t know what they were until I helped out a friend who GM’d a hotel. They needed a maintenance guy and I just moved there so I took it for a few months and trained their new guy or w.e. (I don’t know shit about hotels but mostly it is just standard plumbing and electrical issues). Had a leak on the first floor coming into the gym. Traced it back upstairs to the third floor. Bunch of young adults had ~500 whippets around the room, they refused to let us in, I eventually got in and found they did something to the toilet, it kept running, they were to fucked up to notice the night before and it leaked through the bathroom floor, down an inside barrier wall and made the ceiling collapse in the gym. Wouldn’t have been an issue had they just reported the leak when it happened… instead it took us hours to get them to let us into the room, and they didnt spend the time cleanjng anything, just not wanting to get up. Whatever they did, they sure as shit weren’t going to have fun explaining the damages they caused to their parents, because I don’t think the hotel/police were letting them skip out on paying for it.

  • There is a guy down the road that used to have someone riding down his street with a loud muffler and blaring music trying to hyped up for work every morning around 8:30 So instead of putting a sign up that said no turn between 8-9, he figured if he put up a sign that said 7-9:30 it would seem specific and no one would question it. They would all think it was curated by engineers and traffic studies. Nah, dude just wanted to sleep in because he worked nights.

  • I wondered why the PS5 didn’t have optical out when the PS3 did, then thinking back on it, I probably never owned content/speakers that were good enough to really tell the difference. I had routed the PS3 audio to a receiver with 5.1 surround, and video to a projector via HDMI. Then just played media from an external/had a dual boot to yellowdog Linux at the time. Was fun for young me, hell the projector was probably only 720p at the time
