You saw one of my memes, and reposted it. That’s alright: credit would’ve been nice, but it isn’t required.

But then, you have the audacity to remove the watermark, and modify it using so-called “generative artificial intelligence”? And to top it all off, you insult me and my opinion?

What do you have to say for yourself?

edit: just noticed my post has over double the amount of upvotes, so… :3

My sense of meme culture, and I admit I could be wrong, is that it’s a praise full compliment when someone uses another’s meme format and modifies it. I was sort of startled when you claimed ownership. I thought wow: I did not know that dude was the originator. So. good on you. I honestly don’t come to Lemmy to piss anyone off. I’m not here to compete. Just play and participate a little.

I’m do regret employing AI — I’m here because I want to move the entire internet back to 1999. So… it was a move in violation of my own principals… but I’ve been listening to Gerry Rafferty a lot and I’m nostalgic for the 70s and so I added my two cents.

Surely did not mean to bug.

Eh, it’s fine, I guess. It’s not really my image, legally speaking. AI just really upsets me, and I do anything and everything I can to fight it.

For your sake, and the sakes of those who see your memes, maybe edit images with Microsoft Paint or something next time? That’d certainly give it 1999 interweb vibes.

        p.s. i’m not a dude <3

If there’s a service that can actually distinguish between the different types of metal, please point me to it!

Trying to get a stream of symphonic metal will always do one of two things: “Here, have the entire library of these three bands!” or “Oh you like metal? Here’s the most gutteral death metal we could find! BWAAAAAAAAAAA!!”

    It’s such a tiny genre… I want more Q_Q

I struggle with finding rap rock and rap metal like seriously, it’s impossible because all algorithms will end up suggesting either normal rap or directly metal and rock 💔

Nope. For metal the suggestions are like you said. Either generic or limited. I usually just look up “more bands like x” and use the results. Usually a mix of last.fm + reddit + other sites. Another thing I’d do is use rateyourmusic and browse by genre. For Symphonic metal, for example. Sometimes there’s genre specific sites. Like the progarchives where I go as well from time to time. Oh, many subreddits also have discord servers so maybe look into that as well.

And it also does that based on other listeners.

Qobuz is quite good for discovery too. I like hearing a good album then checking out the record label because usually indie labels sign similar artists.

For me its following the top 10 most downloaded albums of the day, week, month from private torrent trackers! They normally know whats up. I tried spotify years ago and was very hit or miss on what it threw at me and didnt care for it. It almost felt like some of the suggestions were there for reasons other than it’s good and that annoyed me.

I’d take ai suggestions if they actually read the music and based it off of that and not same vague genres and other people’s playlists

it could take forever for areal person to hit some of the smaller bands and match them up, we should have the technology to really help fans find new music easy now days but it feels like it’s misdirected

    Equally fogey-assed dude says:

Every decade, up to and including the one currently in progress, has tons of fantastic music being made by creative, innovative artists. I enjoy the music that I used to love in the 1970’s every bit as much as I love that new album just dropped this week from some guy who was a fetus when I was in grad school. I will always encourage my fellow fogey-asses to find something brand new to add to their playlists.

I don’t know what you’ll love. I don’t know you and I don’t know your taste in music. I could drop a bunch of artists that got my attention this year but I don’t know that you’ll like any of it.

You found your way to Lemmy, I trust you have the knowledge and expertise to find your way to new music. To paraphrase you, perhaps a brand new top 500 of the 2020’s might be constructed by a certain OP with the patience to explore.

Thank you for the song. I was following Interpol in the early 2000s. I remember thinking I was still cool. I greatly appreciate this song and I hope they are still at it. This instrumental is exactly what I needed to hear. Thank you!

Thoughtful, crystal clear clarity. A song that begs you to go along for the ride and takes you to satisfaction.
