When GW2 came out, lots of GW1 fans didnt really connect with it.

Hope we GW2 fans are not gonna feel the same about GW3.

But even if GW3 was not made for GW2 audience, we are still getting another one.

Both current GW games are different and good.

GW1 hands down is one of the most creative online RPGs

GW2 has nothing of what made guildwars fun for me

hopefully GW3 is a mix of both ? open world MMO with the skills system of GW1

I’ve never really played any GW games, but a honest to goodness new MMO from a experienced studio is exciting! For so long the genre have been awash with kickstarter scams like Ashes of Creation or multiple Ultimas, it’s encouraging to have some hope.

I hope the combat has stronger identity in this one. Really love GW2 but the combat felt very flimsy and each identity seems like tried to be different from usual rpg roles and never had a solid identity that felt as good as classic roles.

I’ll probably get blow back but I was never a fan of the combat. I’d prefer tank heal dps. I love literally everything else about the game except the combat.

Several thousand hours in gw2. Really liked it.

I hope they keep the stuff I liked. Solo friendly but other people are around to casually join up or whatever. No level grinding. No gear grind.

I look forward to playing 5 years after release once ANET has changed their mind about core design choices a few times, fluctuated between unique classes and homogenization, and exhaust their thesaurus to be different than other MMOs. I know that sounds sarcastic, but I really do like GW2. I actually have it open on the other monitor right now- I’m in Mistlock smelting mithril ingots. I’m not sure why ANET has such a difficult time sticking to design choices, but eventually it seems to work out.

Of course arenanet are in the best position to make a new mmo, I can’t wait. Gw2 made me get into illustration.

I can see why. The loading/travel screen art blew me away on release and still does now.

I don’t often get my hopes up for new games any more, but I kinda have for this.

I am excited for the next installment. I will most likely preorder the game, I have thouroughly enjoyed their current games and are willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.

I wonder how action orriented they will make the game. I saw some speculation that it will be a lot like warframe.

I’m cautiously optimistic about this one. I loved GW2, even though I haven’t kept up with it in a while, so I’m interested to see what they are planning for the sequel. Orr also seems like a fun setting. I live the descriptions in GW2 of Orr pre-sinking. (Also, the gods (presumably) saying “we promise you magic” is funny, considering how horribly that ends in this case.)

However, GW2 is dripping in style, and I love the painterly style it has. I’m not seeing that same style in this trailer. It looks kinda generic, tbh. (The design of the mount is stellar, though.)

Also, being set in the past means that the Sylvari don’t exist yet, and the Charr are still the “great enemy”, so those two are out. We seem to have gained Kodan as a playable race, though (probably means no Norn as well, since they would have quite a bit of overlap). Also, this seemed like the perfect chance to give the people the Tengu they have wanted, but playable Tengu remains a dream, it seems.

I’m hyped for this for the most part. But you pointed out what I felt but couldn’t put my finger on: the visual style does look kinda generic in the trailer. I hope that they evolve this into a more unique or stylized style.

I’m genuinely very excited for this, but I have to ask: What use is this video as far as an advertisement? What does the video add beyond what an official headline with GW3 on it couldn’t? There’s no gameplay, information, nothing but some pretty pictures and a voice-over. The most I could gather is there’s some form of rock climbing, there’s mounts, and there are classes. But even some of that might be off.

      It shows off:

      • where it takes place (ancient Orr)
      • that that place is mostly a wilderness (as the game takes place a thousand years before the first one)
      • some playable races (Kodan bears are new, Asura and humans are not, Charr won’t be in this one due to the time period)
      • different mount types (flying dragon is probably a mount too)
      • different modes of movement, which is a large focus of this game
      • gliders
      • the style they’re going for, evolved from GW2

And I’ve probably missed a ton of things. Once you really start looking at it there’s actually a lot going on.

Yeah aside from the mounts this looked like some generic unreal engine demo using generic assets. They’d be better off just showing the logo until they have some actual content to show.

Kinda par for the course for guild wars PR though. GW2 had some weirdly bad promo videos.

Oh damn??? Looks like MMORPGs aren’t dead after all. I would have loved to see some gameplay but it’s nice knowing there’s an honest to god new mmo being made by a big studio.

Same with gw2 and wow but we’re talking 21, 16, and 14 year old games here lol, every “major” new MMO since those 3 has died… it’s not exactly inaccurate to call the genre dead.

Shout-out the return of Gloria Victis next week too, best pvp MMO I’ve ever played, the sieges are insane.
