I remember a time I didn’t have to calculate the gas to get to a normal place. Want to go downtown for a few hours of fun? $9 in gas, $15 for parking, and then inflation has ruined everything else’s pricing.

I’ll just stay home and play video games or watch a movie.

I don’t even play golf anymore as it’s too expensive and many golfers are just intolerable jackasses.

Did you forget to pay your landlord their $50 + tip so you can be inside for another day?

I really admire you looking out for the little guy. It’s hard enough for a landlord to make ends meet. Most of them are living your-paycheck-to-your-paycheck. It’s important to give them a little safety net for emergencies like 3rd vacations to luxury destination resorts, yachts, cosmetic surgery, personal chefs etcetera.

Sometimes the world seems so bleak. Then I see a comment like this and I think to myself, “Maybe we’re gonna make it after all.”

For 6 years going outside made me money so this meme just doesn’t work for me. I was an autistic prostitute and every John’s dong was a fidget spinner. I couldn’t get enough of my job and the best part was all the outside time.

I’m sincerely happy you were able to leverage your talents into a solution that was constructive and rewarding for you, and presumably your clients.

Having said that, if I had to guess, I suspect this strategy might not be as effective for about 99.99% or more of the general population, either for lack of desire or ability.

Me and the friends love going out to our local lake to kayaking, and bring out own ice chest with snacks and beer. The cost to charge our cars to drive there is about 50 cents. This can easily burn up a day.

We also like getting on our ebikes and bar hopping. This can be quite expensive as each beer cost 8-12 bucks. But if we hit 4 bars it was a good night for $50 bucks.

The new skate part they opened up is well built and fun, and most of the locals that hang out there are fun. Not to many shit heads.

I also love going to Dave and busters. On Sunday it’s half price games so I get my fill of DDR for a couple of bucks and we get the $5 draft beers. If we are feeling hungry you can get the $20 food and game package.

I’m happy you found cool stuff to do but the investment is expensive… I see an electric vehicle, a kayak, and an electric bike. That’s thousands for the bike alone… Oh and that skate park requires a skateboard. Last I checked that’s a few hundred dollars.

There are cheaper ways to do what you’re doing of course but there’s also storage concerns. Not many people that are struggling financially have space to store an entire kayak…

I appreciate you trying to get it, but it’s pretty obvious that you don’t.

It’s weird that you don’t see your regular gasoline car that yall americans have as an expensive investment.
Also, no way a cheapest ebike is thousands of bucks. I bet you can get one for the price of a couple of months of gas. Or get an acoustic one even cheaper, it will be better for your health.
Also also no way a cheap skate is hundreds.

In many areas, a car is required. To get to work is an hour bike ride each way and there are NO sidewalks or bike lanes. Even with gas and insurance, it’s safer to have a vehicle so you don’t lose your job.

Many employers will not hire you without a car for transportation, it’s a fact in the US.

Oh, I know that, and my heart goes out to y’all. However, there is no requirement that it will have to be a gasoline car.

I paid $5,500 for my car 12 years ago. If they start selling EV’s for under $10k with less than 100k on them, it would be a possibility. Otherwise, most of us cannot afford it.

The average price of a used car in us is 30k+ according to a quick google. Which incidentally is the price of a nissan leaf, give or take. According to that statistics, your 5k bucket of rust is in the minority.
That statistical majority that buys a car for 30k+ should not be buying a gas one when ev exists.

You should write a book on how to live like you do. Some people don’t know how to exist without spending money.

What time sloot are you trying to go for, they are usually cheaper before 4 pm, also look out for local indie theaters they are smaller but the tickets cost less and it’s a better atmosphere anyway

The matinee prices range from 15 to 20% off so still a ripoff IMO. Especially when I’m more than capable of finding quality films online via other means.

They do have half price tickets on Wednesdays and Thursdays, but I’m exhausted at the end of a workday.
