Reddit both mods and site admin are wayyy too ban happy on stuff that is harmless. Like when me saying “Lesbottoms” got me sitewide Reddit Ban
I just tell people to commit sucide every other post. Still not banned.
Reddit truly went to shit when it became a public company, Spez just wants to cash out, serves him fucking right Reddit stock is tanking, shit platform run by biased employees as well.
ai strategy is the same
buy book, use book to train ai, destroy book.
buy reddit posts, use posts to train ai, destroy reddit
if there is a way to download all reddit text i would love to know how. it is worth preserving. reddit already deleted a lot of old posts. and banned subreddits (waterniggas for example) are already gone forever.
Yeah I say Reddit can go pound its dick. They kept banning me for dumb shit it’s like I have to circle jerk with these assholes or I get banned for a full week. I’ve been on there for 15 years although granted not giving two shits about it for most of that time. It’s kind of like me and Twitter I had Twitter since 2009 and never really used it up until like 3 years ago and then realized it was just the absolute dog shit of a company so now I don’t use it anymore.
Why waste time, say lot word when few word do trick?
Biggest rock is best rock
hey - at least homie got banned from one subreddit not nuked off the platform
The same is happening across Lemmy. I have had many posts deleted from lemmy for allegedly breaking the rules, when they do not, not really. Power hungry mods seem to be a human attribute, not a reddit attribute. And, on lemmy, we should be doing more to stop that. I find that lemmy.world has tons of power hungry mods, such as those in pics and asklemmy.
This is an example of such a removal: https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/post/77781886. It had 40 comments. Removed by a mod without any reasoning explained. I had to look into the modlog to find a reason. The reasoning was “not a quest, just a rambling” (paraphrased). No, it was a question, you can see the question mark there. And more important than that, it was getting the community to engage, it had 40 comments.
Some mods are gatekeeping any new posts by being pedantic about rules. it’s almost impossible to post.
I think, there’s some soft censorship too.
Either it’s the mods downvoting posts early or it’s the level of users they are cultivated.
I feel like many IRL communities have been hijacked in some way. Like the Denver and Colorado subreddits.
I can’t find anyone who hasn’t been mass downvoted and it doesn’t seem to align with the upvotes. It doesn’t seem like certain topics are off limits it seems much more like the entire idea of community organizing is off limits.
That might sound like a strange theory until you see how much the Governor is worth.
Not to mention smaller elections have brought that level of social media manipulation. This town had a mayor who won by like 8 votes and felt it was worth it to flood social media with posts about “how great the water is”.
Now look at an Englewood, CO subreddit post about the water. There’s very little arguing, but a ton of downvotes.
https://www.reddit.com/r/englewoodco/comments/1u19v64/is_the_water_just_a_lil_gross_or_actually/
Meanwhile…
https://www.reddit.com/r/Denver/comments/oy4vsz/psa_e_coli_in_englewood_tap_water_how_fun/
It’s not exactly the best water. It has had issues, but you get people jumping in to say it “meets EPA standards”. You see the same lines getting thrown out like someone has been hiding what they should say. If you were to point out that EPA Standards is ambiguous and that many EPA standards have been lowered and with less enforcement, it’s like no one could even hear you.
The good news is, many people simply leave those subreddits or don’t participate. The bad news is, how powerful an effect on perceived consensus it can be to come into those threads without knowing the baseline.
Has no one done an analysis on subreddit upvotes?
I have been researching what would be needed to show correlation between the topics and the votes. Because you can still pull the rest of new comments and posts.
Power hungry mods is one thing, reddit gave us powermods - coordinated moderators who push an agenda. Reddit admin supported powermods in the takeover of many subreddits shortly after they pushed through the API change that killed 3rd party apps.
Allegedly, Ghislaine Maxwell was a powermod in r/worldnews - and it would make sense for Epstein’s associates to be among that number, given that Trump’s main base started in 4chan (on /pol/, created after Epstein met 4chan’s founder) and found its way through to the mainstream via reddit and r/the_donald.
But the solution to powertripping mods is the same here as on reddit: make a new community, with blackjack and hookers. Arguably this is even easier here as you can make the same community name on a different instance.
I got banned for saying that child predators deserve to be incarcerated forever and that Nazis only reason for existence is to be target practice.
I still stand by both of these things and I hope my grandparents who fought against the Nazis are proud of me.
Fuuuuuuuuuck Reddit. Fuuuuuuuuuck Nazis and kill all Child Predators!
When these Chinese teenagers killed that village dog and its puppies, I called to return the favour, banned. Said Russia is a blight on the world, banned. Called to torch ICE buildings and actually show some dissent in the US, banned. Reedit is such a pussy platform.
Well, you’re literally making a call to violence. Can you blame them for removing and banning illegal content? If the government wanted to they could literally prosecute you or Reddit (if they wouldn’t remove it) for it. And no this is not some dictatorial stuff, calls to violence being prohibited are necessary in a democratic country.
Reddit is not going to break any laws to save your ass.
I can blame them. There’s 0 practical ways for that Redditor to follow through on their threats so it’s hyperbolic not threatening
Calling to violence ≠ threatening
Making a call to violence is saying anything in public that creates an atmosphere where violence is deemed acceptable. That’s the law and that’s illegal. It is much less severe than a direct or indirect threat, but still punishable.
Most likely a spam bot attempting to build karma.
Most LLMs have better language skills than that. Who is sending out illiterate bots to bring down democracy.
hulk hulk go away
make it so i am not gay
Too late, you already thought about Hulk.
🟢🍆😏
Reddit destroyed itself! They post horrendous and brutal posts that demand a brutal reply, but if you do, you are immediately banned by their “PC bots”! Sooooo played!
Hulk not good english have. Hulk white tho. Green 2. But white.
Bruce Banner is white, but he is not Hulk. Hulk is an independent entity from the other side of The Green Door that leads to the gamma reality and Bruce Banner became his conduit when blasted with grammar radiation. Hulk is green.
Source: Am nerd.
They literally just banned Chinese Hulk from the Hulk sub.
Hulk very mean to him.
Ah yes.
Because one user
Made a post
On a single sub
And the mods caught it was a racist joke
My only post on r/Minecraft got banned because it was a “redundant post”.
It was a screenshot of a what I thought was a cool looking naturally generated portal.
Reddit is the complete opposite of fun lmao
You’re being down voted but I agree with you. u/danschneidersfeet? Clearly a troll account and probably not the first post from that account that violated the rules.
To bad Lemmites are allergic to actually thinking about a situation. Rather then just circlejerking over a headline.
I can see why so many Lemmites got kicked off Reddit, and then act like the crazy obsessive ex.
No there are tons of Chinese people who are in the medium stages of learning English but also intricately know the drama surrounding an American television producer for kids shows from 20 years ago
You are missing the point. The screenshot shows just one example of how lame Reddit has become.
I, myself, have just came over here from Reddit because I’ve had enough of Reddit’s bs.
I have bad news for you. The biggest headaches of reddit have infected the lemmy-verse as well. The days of free speech believers making good things is gone. Because whenever they make something the self appointed nanny-state shows up and nose dives it.
You will find many of the same kinds of headaches here.
Really doesn’t paint you in the best light. When you’re admitted that less racism pushed you off a platform.
Not speaking English natively and liking Hulk is racism? Every generation needs a clergy to keep them speaking the King’s tongue, I suppose.
Check the username, I’m fairly certain he’s not Chinese but a troll
Way bad intent their post… You make spaces like this worse.
You’re so purposefully dense you’ve compressed yourself into tungsten.
On the other hand, stfu
