At 17 I lost my virginity to a chainsmoker catgirl and it kind of imprinted me to the smell of cigarettes and catgirls even if i don’t smoke and I’m not a furry.

My dad stopped smoking for a little bit to prepare for a big operation. After the op, he asked if we could wheel him into the smoking lounge at the hospital where he was recovering. So begrudgingly we wheeled him in there and with the most sincere shock while we rolled him in, he asked ‘wait is this what you always smell when people smoke? This stink?’

Yea, that’s what our house smells like. You smoke three packs a day in the same small room. What do you expect.

He died of a completely preventable form of cancer a year later. Kids, don’t fucking smoke. It ruins you and the ones you love.

My first house was previously smoked in by someone that probably matched your dad. We put 4 coats of paint on the wall and still couldn’t completely remove the stink.

Try an ozone generator (but absolutely do your research on how to use it safely, inhaling ozone is very dangerous)

Hotels use them for rooms that have been smoked in, and used car dealers on smokers cars

A buddy of mine tried that after he bought his house. Long story short the ozone reacted with chemicals in the carpet and furniture and produced various toxic aldehydes. His (then) pregnant wife couldn’t safely be in the house for like a week afterwards.

The smell and taste is how I made myself quit smoking. Every time I smoked I made myself focus on the smell and taste and made myself say out loud (when nobody could hear but whatever) “these smell and taste like shit!”

Took about a month and I quit. Never even crave them.

Smell is why I quit. My son came home from school and I smelled smoke on him and it just hit me how unfair it was on him. Stopped that day. Wish I had done it much sooner.

for myself and a lot of former smokers i’ve talked to, no matter how much time has passed nor how bad you think it smells now, there’s STILL a non-zero part of you that thinks “omfg that smells delicious”

seriously. I’ve never smoked a cigarette in my life. the day i started having a problem with nicotine is the day secondhand smoke started smelling good. never should have taken that construction job with the crew where i was the only nonsmoker (and everyone there went through two packs on the job).

moved to utah after that, and would linger by smoker’s corner outside the supermarket on the walk home. That’s when i knew something had changed. nicotine’s powerful.

Former smoker who switched to vaping 15 years ago (unflavored e-juice via liquid synthetic nicotine concentrate+ PG/VG)…

Nah, it’s fucking gross. I was exposed to many smokers from a young age, including close relatives and in enclosed spaces. Found myself addicted and craving cigs before I’d ever smoked one, even though I hated the smoke and the smell. FYI - smoking around your kids at all, let alone without being in a well ventilated environment, should be considered child abuse.

I smoked for a decade before switching to vaping, and don’t miss it at all. I don’t hate the nicotine, just burning stinky cigarettes, and to this day it makes me gag.

That happened to me as well. Most of my family smoked, so I was exposed to it constantly. One day, I noticed it just didn’t stink quite as bad as it used to.

So of course, I started. By the time I was in high school, I couldn’t concentrate or focus unless I smoked. I was so dumb; I had no idea what addiction was.

I’ve never been a smoker, but every now and then I catch a whiff and it smells amazing.

But one time a smoker chick started making out with me at a party and dude her mouth tasted so bad I almost puked. Just burnt and tarry. Blech. If it wasn’t the cigarettes, she must have been eating hot roadkill and the slab of asphalt it was on. Just unbelievably bad

That kind of sealed the deal for me not wanting to smoke, but it still smells good sometimes lol.

I’ve never even been a smoker and I kind of like it, but it’s really only because I became acquainted with the smell in bars at 18+ rock shows before smoking was pretty universally banned indoors. I was just pumped to be at the show.

I was a very heavy smoker, quit over 20 years ago. Smelling or seeing it doesn’t trigger me at all. FWIW no vaping, no drugs or alcohol, not compensating but no triggers for me. I don’t entirely get it either, but I am happy with it.

One of the best vape juices I had was flavored exactly like a fresh pack of Camel smells right when the wrapper comes off.

The best was same concept but 50/50 pipe tobacco. It disappeared from the face of the earth. 😭

I stopped smoking a couple of days before Christmas. This February we went to Japan but we fucked up the booking for our room in Hokkaido. We booked a smoker room by accident.

The smell was…not as sexy as you might think as a smoker.

Seen cool smokers. They ain’t making a big thing of smoking. They just go out, take 5 mins to smoke, return to whatever they were doing.

Seen goofy smokers. People who are unaccustomed or try to make smoking part of their identity.

Both stink. Both are loathsome to be around. First kind may actually put some work into lessening that like mints tho. Still stink.
