Ubisoft has just released the first piece of concept art for Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced, finally confirming its long-awaited remake that has been rumored for years.
I’m hesitant about this. Majorly so. Black flag is one of my favorites, and while I really enjoyed Shadow’s gameplay, its story was so fucking long and repetitive. The beginning was great and so was the end. But the middle was awful.
I hope they don’t make any major changes to the story. It’s literally the perfect length I feel like
I really want to play this, but I cannot in good conscience give money to Ubisoft.
Sadly, Ubisoft’s godlike digital rights protections are perfected in ways that my meager search engine typing skills could never trivially counter on a boring afternoon, assuming I don’t find a free pack-in copy before then on some kind of random mall kiosk plug and play TV game device.
Woe is me that I’ll have no choice but to ignore this game until a copy literally falls into my lap through random chance because software wants to be free.
The dumbasses in Ubisoft’s leadership ought to relearn that the paying games industry runs entirely on good will.
Edit: Anyone have recommendations for great indie pirate games?
If you really want to play DRM-protected games, usually a certain fit girl makes it easy for you not long atter release.
I haven’t been delving into that stuff for many years, but as recent as I can find, several reddit post from 3 months, 6 months, and 7 months ago saying AC Shadows still hasn’t been “available through that means” since the DRM is still active.
I kind of doubt the newer games will be available through these, at least not until the DRM is deactivated. I have “proper install” of Mirage and even that still requires always online. Although I found out Mirage is available through that means. So maybe wait after a few years.
Windrose is an upcoming pirate survival crafting game, that supposedly got some good ship gameplay.

There’s a demo available.
Thank you!
I can’t wait to see how they fuck it up.
Just make a good pirate game based on Black Flag already, you already have the game, throw out the AC stuff, put in more pirate stuff, done. This can’t be that hard.
they tried, somehow messed up, Skull & Bones already forgotten lol.
From what I’ve heard the gameplay is way worse than Black Flag’s so ig they did not really try
“Please, guys, we really need the money!”
Meh.
It’s a good game, and imo still holds up decently well. This is just a cash grab.
And then… it gets cancelled just like Prince of Persia remake.
They just made two of them
Poopysoft is dead to me
The remake I wouldn’t touch with a ten-feet pole.
Can I ask why? I’m far removed from a lot of what’s going on. Black Flag was the only AC game I played through. Not the I didn’t try some of the earlier ones.
Is it general Ubisoft stuff or the game in particular?
I’m not the commenter you asked, but I think of Black Flag as a really conflicting game.
On one hand, all of the pirate stuff is really fun. Spearfishing, diving, being on your boat and plundering ships is probably the most fun in any oldschool Creed game.
But if I have to rate it as an AC game, it’s terrible. The story is middling at best, the protagonist is really unlikable, the whole Assasins vs. Templars theme feels shoved in needlessly and the main mission design is absolute ASS. It feels like 70% of all main missions have you tail someone…or something. I mean, the game has a mission where you have to sneekily tail a ship…with your ship. It’s almost like the game is parodying itself.
Now imagine this with even more boatloads (pun intended) of microtransactions everywhere… I really don’t see current Ubisoft delivering a Remake that’s not worse than it was back then.
This connects with my memory. I recall spending all my happy time at sea for hours upon hours. Now that you mention it, I do remember a silly follow mission at sea.
I had not considered the obvious micros they will surely add.
I’m the wrong person though to measure a good AC game 🏴☠️. I could not get into the first one and I know a lot of people have a lot of love for it. Thank you for taking the time to answer.
This guy gets it.
The pirate setting is the only redeemable quality in an otherwise mediocre game from a series that died entries ago.
Interesting. I recommend playing the first 2 if you want to see what the series was like before they fired the creator.
I enjoyed watching my brother play the first two and was actually really interested in the plot but I’m hesitant to go back and play them myself because I’ve at least somewhat seen through people talking about it how they’ve dragged the series out (not to mention the microtransactions they somehow managed to shoehorn in) and I’m almost certain that the wild stuff they set up in the first two games never pays off.
The only gamers that like remakes fall into one of these categories:
That’s my favorite game! I’d love to play it again!
Or
I didn’t get a chance to check it out the first time around, here’s my chance!
Don’t forget: this game was pretty good but was made before various UI and control standards were really set in stone as known best practices, so I’d love to play the game again as I remember it, not as it actually existed.
System Shock, looking at you…
At this point i dont want it anymore. Keept it.
Wow, what elegant timing for AskYourUncle’s video about AC4.
