I sat in a German emergency room for about eight hours total with a broken eye socket and radius for initial diagnosis and treatment a couple of years ago, and the only inquiry into my ability to manage the pain was one doctor asking if I had paracetamol at home right before I left. In fairness to them, it was a Sunday and they wanted to do a full scan of my head (it wasn’t an MRI and I don’t think it was an X-ray, but I don’t remember what it was called- it looked like an MRI machine, just giant) and I needed to have a bunch of different types of doctor check me out.
