I was saying holy fuck because this was how I found out and I’ll skip watching the video because I’ve seen enough live leak from like 2008 to 2016 to satisfy any grotesque need for me to see somebody getting murdered for the rest of my life.

It was pretty mild compared to the shit you might’ve seen on LiveLeak tbh.

I remember seeing a video called “unnecessarily slow beheading” there. After that, uh, seeing a stranger get shot just seems so mundane. It’s fucked.

Yehhhh I have no idea how peeps are so fucked up by the vid, as a frequenter of eyeblech and nsfl__ when they existed. This is a breath of fresh air (blood?) in a world of horrible things happening to people who don’t deserve it

I wont lie, I watched the Saddam Hussein video like 2 years after the execution happened.

I’m a true-blue-center-of-the-generation millenial, who grew up on the internet (but avoided places like somethingawful) and I got squeamish over THAT video.

It was legit just a shot of his feet swinging but my brain just went “Thats not fake, not a movie, thats an actual human being”, and I got mad uncomfortable.

So, I feel zero percent sadness over CKs death (in fact legit delight! I’m currently out having drinks over it!) But I cannot fathom actually watching the moment a human being’s life flickers out.

              I aint built for that.

I would say most of us are not built for that. Seeing all this horrible shit the internet offers you can’t be good for anyones mental health. In this sense: congratulations on escaping the desensitization.

Oddly enough, I’m feel less scared of death now. I remember reddit used to have r/watchpeopledie and that really desensitized me to the idea of death.

I hate how society keep dancing around the subject, like cmon, just show it. People would be less afraid and have to resort to religion.

But I guess they put a veil on everything to keep the masses believing in whatever stupid “god” they come up with, “opium of the masses” as some philospher said.

Observing death really makes you appreciate life more. And I’m not saying this as glorifying death, rather, remember all the bigotry is meaningless, we all die. Just accept the difference in skin color, and lifestyle choices like sexual orientation. Just chill and enjoy the rare odds of existing.

I definitely remember a lot of WPD from my Reddit years, and agree with what you say about shying away from death.

And having rejected the religion my parents tried to raise me in, agree with your point about it being an opiate people would rather take than accept reality (the quote is attributed to Marx, IIRC).

When my father asked me how I could believe that only nonexistence awaits after death, I told him a block of ice and a pot of boiling water left in the same room will eventually reach the same temperature. Humans must eat until we die. Meat left out eventually rots. All that lives is born to die. No being that has ever existed to its end has ever reversed its age or failed to permanently die.

Why, then, would you expect the entire universe you find yourself in to have a special cheat code to allow you to ignore all of its principles, just because a book, written by man, told you 1) there is, and that 2) this man-written book is incorruptible and can only ever speak the truth? You don’t find that to be the slightest bit strange?

I think that post was deleted/removed.

Edit: apparently there’s a redirect that isn’t working for me for some reason. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

It was unexpected, I’ll give it that. If I saw it on a movie, i’d have called it fake :)

Many years ago when Faces of Death was still a hot thing and I was young, and the internet was ripe for the picking for such things… A number, more than a couple. First hand in real life two, but no shots to the neck.

It seemed low on the outside to catch an artery, obviously it did because you would have had that kind of flow without it.

Honestly, come a lot of the gruesome and horrible crap out there looks kind of tame compared to this. It’s one of the things that surprised me back in the 90s, I was expecting everything to kind of look like this.
