If Skynet was based on today’s “AI” I don’t know how it would be the same threat. Like bad, sure. But also reaaaaaly dumb at the same time.

Geometric sequences are real, basically exponential.

Why does everyone worry about the clankers(sarcasm, just in case you’re sensitive) and not about the rich fuckers already controlling everything including those death panels they went on about. I wonder if the clankers would actually be more compassionate than what we have now. I’ll be dead within the decade, doubt I’ll find out.

Except geometric means the exponent is fixed, i.e.
f(x) = x^2
f(x) = x^3
…
f(x) = x^n
where n is a constant, while exponential means the exponent is the variable, like
f(x) = 3^x
No. A geometric progression (u_n) with ratio r and first term a satisfies:
For every n, u_n = a × r^n.
Ratio r and first term a are fixed, exponent n varies. The sequence (u_n) does grow (or decrease) exponentially fast.
At least that’s what the English definition is, and in my first language as well. If there is one in which “geometric” means “power function”, I’d actually be curious to know.

I miss practical effects. They are just so much more raw. The highly polished CGI that is everything these days is just visually boring to look at. I am not interested in the next flashy gimmick, anything that you can dream up is now possible to show on screen, so the fast paced stupid action doesn’t hit home at all anymore.
