Don’t you get enough sun on your bike rides? It’s hotter than Satan’s butthole out there in most of my country right now…
Gotta get that nice even George Hamilton look going on
I noticed that the chuds were hurting when they started asking questions about the little car I (used to) drive. Wanting to know how much gas it used. Wanting to know if it is reliable.
In 2005 I was riding a bicycle to work and loving it, sadly it’s now a 70 mile round trip to work, and it would all be along roads that would 100% get me killed on a bicycle. Which sucks because I always feel so good after a decent ride.
Ive decided on harm reduction and sort of a new hobby - I bought one of the first production electric cars, a second generation Leaf. It was ridiculously cheap and it’s easily rebuildable, even the battery. Its fun watching my supervisor sneer at the little car while also bitching about having to drive a diesel-powered 1 ton truck 80 miles a day for 5 dollars a gallon.
Reminds of the moments when paying for fuel, and SUV drivers waiting next in the queue weep when they see how much I pay, as a microbus driver. Yeah. I have double the usable space in my vehicle, and am paying less than half for fuel.
Oh sure you have usable space, but is your powerful (not even a little bit insecure) masculinity being projected effectively??
I’ve been driving an EV for 6 years.
- I have never run out of electricity.
- It hasn’t caught fire.
- I do not miss switching to 2. gear.
- I do not miss the noise.
- My penis size has not changed.
- I do enjoy the lower cost.
- I am mildy and smugly annoyed by the doll head nodders in ice cars who can’t get an even acceleration when starting at the green light.
- I do not miss standing in the cold at the gas station holding a nozzle for minutes to empty my wallet.
- Charging time has never been an issue as it happens by itself when I don’t use the car.
- Range has never been an issue as I hate driving to other countries in non stop trips anyway.
Is there anything else you would like to know about driving EVs?
Have you found yourself accidentally gesturing “my heart goes out to you” with an extended arm at a fascist rally?
No, but unrelated to my car, I did make googly eyes when I saw a bunch of Nazis on a corner of a street four years ago. I do regret it though.
In my half a century of living I have bever seen that before, so it came as a shock to me. Next time I will ensure to give them a good beating instead.
but is your powerful (not even a little bit insecure) masculinity being projected effectively??
I ask myself that every day in my dorky little EV. Sure, it will beat nearly any truck up to 60 mph, but it doesn’t blow black smoke out of the side and it doesn’t sound like marbles rattling in a steel can. I tried putting a playing card in the wheel spokes but it was still too quiet.
Maybe it needs speakers on the back like one of the new chargers.
speakers on the back like those new chargers
How anyone could drive one of those without feeling like a total doofus the whole time, I’ll never know…
To be fair they seem to have trouble selling them.
Yeah, doesn’t growl and make an angry fuss. It’s all so graceful.
It’s also, to me, relaxing.
I don’t have to worry about the bands/clutches in the transmission, I don’t have to worry about bad gas, I don’t have to worry about what this or that engine noise means, I just have to plug it in.
My old one was a petrol mid-engine, real wheel drive, manual, no power steering, no power brakes, with twin sunroof. ;D
This sports car pedigree is adequate masculinity bragging rights. ;D
… Also, according to the advertising, it picks up 5 times as many women as a lambo. :D
That’s a pretty genius ad.
Oh you just wait, when they finish with the car drivers
Italian Usage?
I prefer Italian Ubasil
Me, an e-bike rider, when the fossil fuel prices make the over 60% renewables energy costs to charge my battery skyrocket

My next bike’s gonna be a touring bike (or similar) without motor assistance, though, so I’ll be free to roam untethered both literally and figuratively 😃
This is why I charge my battery at work.
Boss makes a hundred, I make a dime. That’s why I charge on company time.
Yeah, make the most of the leg-engine!
I ride past the gas station on my way to work and think “$1.69? Them’s rookie numbers. Let’s see if you can crack $2/litre.”
Lol. We’re up to €2.35 here, which would be about $2.70 in US dollars
See that’s more like it!
In Denmark all the gas stations started to panic during the last gas shortage because the signs only went up to 19.99, so they had to replace them with ones that could show 20 (DKK 20 = €2.67 = $3.07). We’re just about up there again.
Lol, this is millinium bug level of chaos :)
Petrol station technology limitations were why UK partially switched to liters in the early 80s: most pumps could only show/calculate up to £1.99 per volume unit.
