I don’t think they can afford to, if they’re betting on this technology. They have to use their public influence to convince as many (important) people as possible for as long as possible to squeeze as much money as possible. After all, if these successful CEOs say it’s good, other CEOs may be swayed as well, and they’re the suckers that’ll end up deciding to spend the fruit of other people’s labour on infrastructure and tokens.

Their attitudes are based purely on having never faced repercussions for their societal parasitism and an insatiable desire for “more”.
Financially, sure. Emotionally, their sense of self-worth and their image is defined by their financial success. To have bet on a losing horse would sting. Hence, they need it to succeed.

I am starting to downvote these posts. I know what an asshole like Bezos would say if asked, then a good-for-nothing tech press guy asks AND you give him a platform on Lemmy.
There is no valuable analysis or any collateral reporting that makes this other than self-inflicted propaganda.
I agree with your sentiment but I like these posts for a strategic reason: Bezos intends for his statements to bolster support, but his strategy is falling flat. Support for AI is either level or declining, and anger over its harm is growing. Bezos reveals the extent to which he is out-of-touch. I think his statements actually inflame opposition to AI: his propaganda is motivating his opponents while leaving his supporters indifferent. When I upvote Bezos quotes, I am thinking to myself, ‘hey everybody, get a load of this asshole!’ I am definitely not upvoting him because I think his claims have merit or that they will convert people to support AI.
I feel like the fact that Bezos himself is out here arguing means that he’s losing.
