IF I have like 10-12 hours, I’d take acid over mushrooms any day of the week. So much more predictable, and as someone who has little interest in microdosing, it’s a more controlled experience.

I’ve never had a bad time on acid, but I definitely have with shrooms.

Acid lasts a lot longer than mushrooms, but for me mushrooms always included a brief bout of severe paranoia. I loved both of them, but now I would fight to avoid having to take either one. I’m just too old – psychedelics are for young, invincible people IMHO.

I can’t handle either anymore, really, but acid over mushrooms is wild to me. The amount of time, the comedown…

Maybe you’ve never had access to high quality mushrooms then? Being from a place where they can be bought in a store, quasi-legally, I won’t eat more than a couple grams of the stronger varieties, because 2 grams will already make me see sound and hear colour. And I ain’t no light weight.

But a couple tabs of acid, sure. I’ll be vibing hard, definitely acting pretty dumb. But reality will not melt before my very eyes. Might see some cool colours and what not, but it’ll always remain controllable. The problem is always the length.

Now DMT is a whole 'nuther thing. 5-10 mins of, holy shit I’m not even on earth anymore, and then BAM, back to reality. It’s quite nice.

Sorry, didn’t mean to sound condescending.

But yes I definitely have. That’s the cool thing about things, everyone can have their preferences and that’s alright.

It’s all good. People react differently too. I generally enjoyed mushrooms more, but I always found the hallucinations more tethered to reality-- nature mostly. Like seeing all the patterns and fractals in the trees or waves. Feeling the breathing of the earth. I’ve had trips on acid where I felt physically and emotionally “normal” but I had 100% visual hallucinations. Like the entire setting around me transforming into something else entirely. And not in a way that I could “shift back” away from.

That’s interesting, and I get what you mean, although I’ve definitely had similar experiences on shrooms where I was “locked” out of reality.

One thing that I’ve learned over the years is that being sound of mind is extremely important when it comes to doing hallucinogenic substances. As someone who is generally very low in anxiety, this normally is not an issue for me, but my few bad experiences have all occurred during times of emotional instability.

Yeah I’m naturally quite anxious. In my younger days, I would find relief in weed and psychedelics. At some point they began to amplify it :(

Sounds like it’s time for a business trip then.

I’d like to try dmt, but don’t have any connections that I trust because we’re all too old.

I wish I’d had access to DMT when I was actively doing psychedelics. Seems like it got really popular in the last few years. I had friends that were selling DMT vape pens.

DMT is great. It’s so short and forceful you don’t have time to have a bad trip. My most difficult times on mushrooms, LSD, or various 2C-x compounds were because I had time to think.

There’s no time to think on DMT. One second you’re sucking on the vape and it tastes funny, the next second every thing is melting, you have to close your eyes, and some entity is comforting you and welcoming you back, despite this being your first time.

Unfortunately you can have a bad trip on DMT. Don’t neglect your set just because it’s so short. It can get extremely intense extremely quick and you’re out of it before you manage to work it through

Maybe one day… I first read about it in the mid 90s in a Terrence McKenna book (True Hallucinations),and a few years later in The Spirit Molecule. For now, I can tolerate minidose mushroom gummies at a concert haha.

It’s a very interesting substance. The short duration is a blessing, if you’re uncomfortable just wait 20 minutes and you’re sober again. You’re never going to be locked into hours of thought spirals. I’ve had more difficult experiences with cannabis than DMT.

Yeah that was always a major appeal for me, and something that has held my curiosity even though I can no longer enjoy psychedelics or cannabis.
