The data set and the algorithm are still there, it’s just not available to the public anymore. I wonder who will still get access to it. This just seems to follow the general trend of oligarchs encouraging startups to do anything and everything to disrupt an industry, go as far as they can, and then pull them out through any pressure, government or corporate, as they try to scavenge what they want.

Besides that, there’s still alternatives alive, local or otherwise, and I doubt the people who were using Sora are suddenly going to stop without trying to search for alternatives first. People are celebrating after just chopping off the first head of the hydra.

Does ‘film industry’ belong in this meme?

e: what am I missing? I think of the big conglomerates when I hear those words, and those conglomerates don’t have the same interests in mind as artists and people with ethics, right? Or am I missing something?

Disney had a billion dollar contract with Sora, so yeah it doesn’t really work here. Film writers would be more fitting.

Honestly it depends on what is considered part of the film industry. I would consider the actors, writers, etc etc, part of the industry even if they arent the major companies behind everything. They definitely hate AI and the guilds and unions have been very open about it.

That said… they could also be considered “artists” so eh

I guess to me, ‘industry’ are the producers and studios. I can see how we have different meanings for that word.

The film industry includes actors, writers, directors, camera operators, production assistants, costumers, protheticists, prop organisers, extras, set designers, weapons masters, stunt performers, choreographers, composers, musicians…

If anyone else believes in multiple universes, I feel like this was a split among the universes. Some universes killed sora. We’re one of those universes.

The other universes went with sora living on, and the fallout for decades over that shaping the creative digital landscape.

Which means SOMEWHERE exists an Earth, exactly like ours, except sora never died. Which means somewhere is an Earth that’s even worse than ours!

At least we aren’t in the one where the Simpsons was right about Donald Trump becoming president and wrecking the whole country.

… fuck, jumped timelines again. Never mind.

The thing I like about that, is 25 years ago they joked that “president trump wrecked the country, and now on her first day as president Lisa has to clean up trumps mess.”

People were let down by Biden not being a 4 fingered woman with a spikey hairdoo as the president after trump.

And now we’ll get a second chance for “the president after trump”.

We need a spikey haired lesbian with glasses, who’s always the smartest person in the room, but also easily swayed from her position because of social pressure of acceptance. Often to the detriment of others.
