why the hell does a coffee company want to align itself with firearm users? There are so many different coffee-consuming customer bases they could pander to, and they want to go for the 'aard maan crowd

So they can sell you gun related shit like stickers and hats. It’s basically a meme of bullshit where other mall ninjas can hang out and pat each other’s balls and measure all their lawns with tactical rulers.

The tacticool crowd is ripe for exploitation. You can make anything “tactical” and then boom, they’re in it.

Imagine taking something really cheap like ground coffee (and let’s be real, this is gonna be some cheap shit) and then you put it in a black bag with an all-caps stencil font and a silhouette of a gun, and some people will pay you premium price for it.

Business goes tits up? Slap a sticker on the bag with some floral designs and a picture of an amethyst crystal and now you can recoup it with the crunchy new age health crowd.

Because they need idiots to buy their dog shit robusta beans. That’s pretty much it. Nobody who takes coffee even a little bit seriously would ever drink that swill, so if they want to sell the beans they need a hook for stupid people.

The company was started by a group of former veterans that were having a hard time adjusting to civilian life after seeing combat. It was a tongue in cheek name riding the early wave of bespoke coffee.

Okay that humanizes it a bit, I like them a bit better now. It feels like it was built organically, but their corporate branch pivoted to the 'MURICA crowd

Could be that the parent company makes lots of brands, and wants this sector to spend more. For instance, have you ever wanted bottled water? And some illusion of corporate choice?

Whenever a company makes their whole image about something that has nothing to do with their actual business model, I immediately doubt the quality of their product or service. Especially if that image comes with an overtly political agenda. If their thing is something I like or care about, I’ll consider the possibility that their quality might, maybe, be decent, but this particular company is one where I intend to let my assumption stand untested.

I can’t tell you if the coffee is any good, (I’m not supposed to drink coffee anymore. But the doctor didn’t say anything about tea). But the company was started by veterans that were having a hard time adjusting to civilian life after combat.

They made some money, and then sold the brand out and retired.

Reminds me of my in-laws switching to Patriot Wireless to get away from “liberal AT&T”. I couldn’t figure out which part was more laughable. Thr fact that AT&T and “liberal” are virtual antonyms or that they’re paying money to a middle man and still get service through AT&T.

Apparently you dont need mass market appeal when there is a dedicated group of idiots who are naive enough to believe you’re on their “team” and will enthusiastically spend money on your inferior product or service in cult-like solidarity.

There’s a MAGAt brand for a lot of things. It’s one of the ways you know the whole damn thing is a grift.

I said to my kids the first time Trump was voted in that there is the market of suckers that will but any garbage so long as you Mega market it. My kids are good people so didn’t take advantage of that but we have seen so, so many businesses that have popped up, not just Trump family stuff, to take advantage. Sometimes I wish I wasn’t moral and ethical. The grift is so easy against 25% of the population in (every?) country.

Feels before reals. They buy it bacase “Black Rifle”. It could taste like shit. They pour a cup and, “This stuff tastes like shit lol.” and they’d keep buying it because Black Rifle pisses off the libs, it has a gun on it, and the makers are making the brainwashed snowflakes feel manly for having Manly Gun Label Coffee.

I mean. I’ve had plenty of liberal coworkers who take way too much pride in their ability to chug simmered down burnt coffee sludge. It’s a weird toxic yet widespread subcultural trait in healthcare / first responder and military / pseudomilitia circles, which have a very wide variety of political affiliations.

Not only will I drink bean sludge but I’ll drink decaf bean sludge and seize the means of production while I’m doing it.

Granted, I’m seizing the means to get a better cup of coffee first but the people will own that cup.

I think most of the coffee sludge drinkers are more signaling about (admittedly toxic and resulting from exploitation) work ethic than any particular loyalty to the brand of stimulant sludge in the office coffee pot.

Black Rifle coffee specifically seems more like a conservative version of the liberal Starbucks drinkers in the 2000s who drank it because it signaled their politics and in spite of the burnt beans.

Right, and my very strong suspicion is they also really insinuated themselves into the lives of US military people. Whether aggressive marketing, or lots of “respect the troops/thank a veteran” style pandering and t-shirts and hoodies and all that shit, or a combination of all that, they definitely feel like a Nine Line Medevac level of cynicism company. It’s been years but I bet at least one of these companies has fully-transparently fascist apparel for sale right now. Fascism really seems to make for such easy business, at least to the right customers, sadly.

I always remember one particular dude who appeared to have gone ‘full hooah’ I guess you could say, as military and exercise and, idk, gear seemed nearly his whole identity, and he was basically hawking this ridiculous coffee. It was a perfect fit (if contrived, maybe even on both sides).
