Hi everyone. I wanted to share Alia Domus, a pixel art survival RPG where you explore and colonize an unknown planet after Earth becomes exhausted by war.

You are one of the first volunteer colonists sent to prepare humanity’s new home. The plan fails when the war cuts off supply shipments and support from Earth, leaving you isolated, unarmed, and alone on an unfamiliar planet. From there, your goal is to survive, understand the world, and slowly rebuild human progress from nothing.

The game is about more than just staying alive. You collect resources, complete quests, cultivate crops, craft tools and equipment, and research technologies across nine historical eras, from the Paleolithic Age to the Digital Era. You start by making basic stone tools and can eventually develop advanced defenses and laser weaponry.

Alia Domus also has character progression based on what you do in the world. You earn experience and can customize attributes such as Strength, Agility, Dexterity, Intelligence, and Vitality to shape your own playstyle.

The planet has different biomes, mysterious caves, more than 140 plants to discover, and 126 unique creatures to encounter. Some animals can be hunted for materials, while others are dangerous and require you to learn their behavior before approaching them. You can explore 85 maps and scenarios, use the world map to mark important locations, and follow quests at your own pace.

A free demo is now available on Steam. It lets you experience the beginning of the game, including exploration, resource gathering, crafting, farming, quests, and combat. Since the game is still in development, I would really appreciate feedback on the overall pacing, survival systems, enemy encounters, and how clear the game feels while playing.

If Alia Domus looks interesting to you, please consider adding it to your Steam wishlist. It helps a lot for visibility and lets you know when the full game is released.

Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoy the demo.

    The trailer is so wholesome.

I will share some impulse thoughts:

    • I love the SDV-style NPCs. Personality, their style, their lives; that’s such a draw.

    • Love the look of resource gathering. Yes, I will mine some tin and chop some trees. Though I might suggest making these activities “interesting” with physics (like how trees will fall down and tumble in Valheim).

    • All the animations are gorgeous.

    • Love the variety of monsters. It feels alien.

    • I have more mixed feelings about the style of traits. I know many are fans of ‘oldschool’ RPG systems, but I’m personally not.

    • I’d prefer more of a ‘psyche’ and skill system like Rimworld or something.

    • Combat is down to user taste.

    • I’m sure many have told you this, but TBH, I’m unlikely to play a survival game like this if it’s just solo. But I’m not asking for networking; even if it had couch split screen, that’d be great. I could even stream the screen remotely.

I honestly don’t plan to demo or wishlist this. However, I would love to see more games like this, about rebuilding a planet that’s been savaged by war. A lot of the time, we got games that are like Fallout where, the bombs already fell so it turns into just surviving the aftermath. We already have tons of games like that in a variety.

But we don’t have enough games where it’s like, the bombs fell, the aftermath sucks so okay - let’s rebuild it! Why not. More games like these can get people to think more of ideas of thinking past the point of these kinds of things whether it’s nuclear fallout or recovering from the damage of corrupt powers.

Thank you so much! You’re right, but I think you misunderstood the concept. In Alia Domus you don’t rebuild Earth after war. You LEAVE Earth since Earth’s resources are depleted, and now you restart civilization in a planet called Alia Domus. Does this concept still interesting to you?

Last screenshot reminded me of Heaven&Hearth (before they changed style and went 3d).
