my grandma used to have one in the back of a fireplace to make it look pretty. I asked her what it was and she said a salt lamp. I was a dumb kid so OBVIOUSLY I needed to know what it tasted like. When she wasn’t around I crawled back there and took a lick. What I didn’t account for is that it would be covered in ash and dust and my tongue would just be covered in that instead.

    Good times.

Now I’m going to have intrusive thoughts about licking Himalayan salt lamps. What does it taste like? Does the light change flavor?? What do moths think of Himalayan salt lamps???

I’ve seen this meme before and I definitely have intrusive thoughts about licking my gf’s Himalayan salt lamp. Still haven’t tried it yet, even though she said I could when I jokingly brought it up, because I’m pretty sure it would be disappointing.

I tried licking those lamps and also licking straight up Himalayan salt blocks. They don’t taste any different from regular salt to me. The prevailing flavor is salt.

          Tajin makes everything better!

Now I want tajin watermelon. Speaking of which, if you’ve never tried putting salt on watermelon, it’s delicious. Somehow brings out the sweetness and juiciness.

Am Mexican, love putting salt or tajin on everything, maybe with some chamoy.

Mango, pineapple, apples, grapes, almost any fruit with tajin with/without chamoy is mouth watering. Never really just done just salt, I always add lime or lime/lemon salt if I don’t want spice.

My husband’s immediate response: “what about all the men who have licked the salt lamp before me?”

    spoiler

It’s extra funny because he didn’t care about how much of a ho I was.

A block of pink salt heated by a lamp that users believe gives them health benefits. No proven medical benefits have been established and is as a result a superstition.

Not fair, I like having a salt lamp because it’s taking a piece of enormous historical wealth and using it for shitty lighting

The heat makes the lamp atoms vibrate at a higher frequency, which in turn makes it deteriorate. To maintain its structure the lamp seeks out emotions vibrating at other frequencies to pull within itself. Drawing these “Bad Vibes” into the lamp is what makes it salty, and a naturally gifted or properly trained Empath can taste this salt to see what has been absorbed by the lamp, to gain knowledge of the owner’s troubles.

One claim is it adds negative ions to the air which the claim is are good for you. There’s no evidence they’d release anything more than an infinitesimal amount. Salt is pretty stable.

Another claim is it helps purify the air by trapping toxins, which, even if true, would quickly become useless as the surface area becomes saturated. There’s also no evidence any pollutants end up on the lamp beyond pure coincidence/chance.

Make sure you wrap your licker! You don’t know how many unwrapped licker people have licked that Himalayan salt lamp before you! Or even which animals! You could end up with … Dry Tongue!
