Tenant rights in Germany are amazing (comparatively) and there is still renter associations (Mieterverein) because landlords are scum sucking parasites who will knowingly do illegal things to tenants.
Renter’s rights in Australia is way behind, it needs to get up to speed soon because no one can afford houses.
I’ll never again put up with rental agents walking through my home every quarter taking photos
Likewise in Greece.
Same in my neck of the woods.
My sister’s apartment has a patch in the ceiling that’s literally cardboard boxes from the local hardware store. And literally holes that were cut in the walls for repairs of wires and pipes that were never covered after they were done. And best of all: her bathroom has never had a door on it. The previous tenant (allegedly) tore it off and the landlord has been saying that they’ll replace it at the first of the month for 3 years now.
I looked at one apartment years ago where a dog (hopefully it was a dog) had eaten a one-square-foot chunk out of the corner of the bedroom door. The previous tenants had repaired it by nailing a pizza box over the missing corner. The pizza box still had cheese on it. Somehow this seemed worse to me than the two big mounds of dog shit in the kitchen.
The landlord was a wheelchair-bound woman who hadn’t been upstairs to look at the apartment since the previous tenants had left. When I told her what was up there, she said if I took the place she would knock off $200 … from the security deposit.
…did you sign the lease?
Heck no … there was no place in the kitchen for me to shit.
Come on, you gotta at least use some primer first. Kilz that shit so you seal in all the mold. Then it’s forced to become structural, and in a few years you can use your well trained mold to grow extensions to your units!
Pretty sure that’s how they made the backrooms.
That mold is load-bearing.
Nah, it’s white or beige or some shit
It’s gloss white on the wood and flat white on the walls, but it comes out cream colored from all the layers of cigarette smoke it’s covering.
I bought a house that had been occupied by smokers. One day I painted one of the bedrooms and everything seemed fine and I went home. When I came back the next morning, the top two feet of paint on the walls had flowed down off the walls and onto the floor. Not something I’ve ever seen happen before. Fortunately I was able to scrub the top with mineral spirits and get the next coat of paint to stick.
They bothered to paint over the mold?
with structural paint.
Australia must be a miserable place to live in 🤮🤮🤮
Yeah that would never happen in USA!
No as a canadian my impression of australia is that it’s just canada with the same problems but worse
Have many close friends there and it’s been tough in recent years
They chronically elect right wing wankers. Not like the old days…

“Oi! Bruce!”
Albo is a centrist wanker, thanks very much. Very much like a Democrat before Reagan.
Centrists are just right wingers with PR.
I’ve always looked at Australia as the baby brother behind USA 😂 Canada is the middle child. We should just all be States United 💪💪
This may be the most American thing I’ve ever read. The ego that must be present for someone to think that the U.S. is more mature or a country to look up to is ridiculous.
But but but we’re the greatest country in the world? The whole world looks up to us! Every single person on this planet would sacrifice their first born to get a chance to live in this beautiful land! Last night I read a story on the interweebs about europoors dying in the Atlantic Ocean on rafts trying to escape socialism and come to murica! Imagine that, and the young illegals here in the beautiful country would vote for these socialists now, IT’S INAMERICAN! Anyway don’t forget to vote for America this November! Gobbless
Some 35 years ago my 3rd grade teacher explained to us little Aussie battlers… That through history we have usually had a chance to observe what hasn’t worked in the US and improve our own implementation.
And looking back, have ya?
Certainly not always.
I think what that teacher was really getting at is things like electrical standards, phone networks, things like that.
