In software development the main branch is the version which the clients update to.
Before pushing updates to the main branch, they should be forked to a test branch.
Microsoft is pushing out updates without properly testing them, resulting in a lot of avoidable bugs.
No, the main branch should be at HEAD, and releases ought to be a few commits back, when it was tested and considered stable enough. Maybe that’s the joke, they’re doing it at unstable points.

The reason why microsoft is going to shit with AI is because they force it down their developers throat. Hell, people get reprimanded because they don’t use enough tokens each month. And yes, if you’re forced to shove AI down everything, it’s going to be shit.
Debian isn’t going to end up like microsoft because debian isn’t forcing it’s use. So people use it where it’s going to be useful and if it results in shitty code, well, a maintainer will most likely spot it. Debian is famed for it’s stability and pretending like their liberal stance on LLMs is going to change that is nonsense.
I don’t want to bring up old wounds - but it was the same with the init system vote - it was set up in a way that only systemd could possibly win.
