The reason why microsoft is going to shit with AI is because they force it down their developers throat. Hell, people get reprimanded because they don’t use enough tokens each month. And yes, if you’re forced to shove AI down everything, it’s going to be shit.
Debian isn’t going to end up like microsoft because debian isn’t forcing it’s use. So people use it where it’s going to be useful and if it results in shitty code, well, a maintainer will most likely spot it. Debian is famed for it’s stability and pretending like their liberal stance on LLMs is going to change that is nonsense.
From now on this might as well be Debian as they’ve adopted the most libertarian rule about LLMs you could vote for. (Basically “do whatever the fuck you want on our code”). Which immediately caused core maintainers with a spine to quit on the spot.

I don’t want to bring up old wounds - but it was the same with the init system vote - it was set up in a way that only systemd could possibly win.
