I used to never get out for less than $100. In my last place I lived across the street from a Costco and it changed everything. It wasn’t a special trip anymore and I could just pop in and grab lunch, it was great.
I call fake, in a country where it is not possible to walk to a costco, one simply doesn’t go to the shop just for toothpaste.
You didn’t go there for a tube of toothpaste, you went there for a trunkful of toothpaste. You need to be well-stocked in case of emergencies.
Or maybe I went for the kayak and ended up with the world’s largest jar of pickles.

Nope! Costcos business model is masquerade as a benevolent company that cares about its workers and treats customers fairly so they can sell more memberships while treating all the non public facing workers like cattle and giving a maximum of 2% annual raises to only the most sycophantic employees.
It’s all bullshit, just because the warehouse workers are paid and treated better at Costco than Amazon or Walmart does not make them one of the good guys.
Shit one of their largest shareholders is Blackrock.

That mentality leads to people supporting Amazon. If you give people nowhere good to go, they will give up and go to the most convenient thing. This world would benefit if everyone dropped Amazon and moved to Costco. It would not be perfect. It would be better. And better is good.

Costco is publicly traded, anybody can buy their stock. Blackrock owning it should be irrelevant to public opinion of the company.
It’s also probably mostly BlackRock index funds. Which means tons of retail investors are part of this ownership.
Well, except that I’m theory, owning a lot of shares in a company gives you some leverage over that company to drive its policies and direction.

Sorry friend, I can’t in good faith let them keep pulling wool over peoples eyes. By all means keep shopping there if you need to economically, but they very much need you to believe they are different from the rest
Ok but they are different from the rest though. They treat their employees better, provide good products and services, and as far as I know are the only company who are even pretending to attempt to pass the tariff refunds along to their customers. It’s just not up to your ideal standard. Which is fine, we don’t live in a perfect world and should continue to push for the best.
Also their founder told the CEO “If you raise the price of the hot dog I will fucking kill you.”
Is keeping the price of animal abuse products artificially low beneficial to the animals, the climate, or any of us though?

Do people actually go to Costco for one thing tho… except maybe the food court? Can’t imagine myself doing a quick grab n go like I would at a CVS or 7-11.
Sometimes I’ll run in for just cat litter and a bag of coffee (the local ones carry a regional brand of whole bean coffee that’s okay for the price).
We have both Sam’s and Costco (we generally get different things at each), and they are just a couple of blocks apart, so if our bi-monthly shopping is heavy to one, I might only need a couple of items at the other.
I actually do sometimes depending what it is. For instance I’m low on kosher salt and we cook a ton so we only get it at Costco, I’m gonna stop by later this week for a box.
I went in for toilet paper and spent 200 dollars.
Costco is nice but there are too many people in there. Sams Club is more chill even if they are Walmart.
In most respects sams club is just worse than costco in most ways.
