Ubisoft is currently struggling to exist as a company, having already explored new ownership structures and tons of layoffs, because people are no longer pouring money into the bullshit they complained about. I didn’t even list their Avatar and Star Wars games in the above.
The fact that they put out these shitty ips as games when historically they always fail because they fucking suck is testament to how stupid they think modern gamers are.
The script was flipped on licensed games somewhere around Arkham Asylum in 2009. Spider-Man is one of Sony’s best-selling games ever, and Marvel Rivals is tremendously popular. There was never an extended period of time without a good, popular Star Wars game since the early 90s. No, licensed games don’t always fail or suck.
