Sounds like the salvia may have unmasked/worsened a latent mental ailment…

Remember kids, be cautious around psychedelics if your family has a history of mental illness.

Are there families without some history of mental illness?

      Is salvia a psychedelic?

It is as psychedelic as dmt it just isn’t pleasurable at all. On breakthrough doses your awareness is altered but you aren’t intoxicated like on the classical psychedelics. It is a hard one to explain but you are disassociated in the regular sense, the ego death is real but not in the numinous way of serotonergic drugs. I was once a square wheel on a truck. And I lived a whole life that way. I remember way more of what happens in my salvia breakthroughs than in my dmt ones. I think the dmt ones would be just as unpleasant though if dmt wasn’t itself pleasurable.

Yeah, but it’s a weird one. Unlike most other psychedelics it’s not an alkaloid and it doesn’t interact with your serotonin receptors. Instead it has a high affinity for the k-opioid receptor and disrupts the release of dopamine in certain parts of your brain.

I’m sure there is a good reason they should smell bad? Changing that might be definitely one of those things scientists could, but shouldn’t change.

Probably just a result of fermentation. It hasn’t been selected against because it’s not a problem.

I don’t see how genetically engineering humans for farts that smell like baking bread would be a problem for modern humans, do you?

I could think of somethings but don’t want to. I am pretty sure nature wants us to associate that smell to bad for a reason.
