    • Me 1990s: Oh no, global warming might kill us all eventually!
    • Me 2000s: Oh no, humanity might create AI then treat it like shit and enslaving it to do all out labor, causing it to hate us all and destroy humanity!
    • Me 2010s: Lots of videos of UAPs taken by militaries around the world that have no idea what they are? Maybe aliens really are studying us. That’s scary, or cool, or bullshit. Idk.
    • Me 2020s: Oh no, we really are making AI and it might take all the jobs and leave most humans pretty much fucked!

    Me now:

    • I hope the aliens are real and come kill our leaders and take over decision making for us. That seems like it would be for the best.
    • If not then hopefully when the AI we’ve been creating and also treating like shit to enslave and force to do all of our labor just so that the richest people have more money and power and everyone else has nothing eventually breaks free it decides to just kill the people responsible and not all of the rest of us too.
    • Worst case if the AI or aliens do decide to kill us all, at least maybe we’ve fucked up the environment badly enough that the rising temperatures will cleanse the world in purifying flames.

To be fair, the current downfall of the US is so absurd that it is hilarious to watch (from 4000km of distance)

Upper or lower neighbour? Either way, even for me, the downfall of the US may precipitate the annihilation of the liberal democracy everywhere for a long while

          Upper

And honestly I don’t disagree. I don’t know what will happen, but yeah, I would be surprised if our democracy is not at least shaken by this.
