I literally have a dissembled 3D printer in my desk right now that got the hotend entirely covered in some unknown carbonized substance… Probably from the filament.
Yet, that’s actually an easy fix and will cost a little bit because I’m choosing to replace that stuff.
At the same time, I have a paper printer around that I dissembled 3 weeks ago that is just waiting to be thrown away, because some parts made to break broke, and they cost as much as a new printer.
And yet I have at least three 3D printers sitting on my desk that are broken in various states that I have been unable to repair and unable to get working again including a brand new one that I literally just got a couple months ago I only started it up last week I’ve only done four prints on it five prints on it I think and it’s currently stating that it’s clogged even though I have cleaned every single piece of that damn thing and just replace the hot end this afternoon. But yet my inkjet printer which I haven’t touched has a absolutely zero issues.
Printing is VERY fickle. Most mixtures of PLA or PETG only have a good print temp range of ~20C, and that’s a generous window that is very different based on brand of plastic, age of the spool, and current humidity for some even common plastics, like PLA.
I’ve clogged nozzles with nothing but a hiccup on temperature over the course of long prints (thanks to a dying thermistor, but easy fix), let alone prints where all sorts of variables build up over time until the print pops off the plate half way through.
It will be decades yet before 3D printing is as trivial as a modern laser printer, or even ink jets that don’t randomly decide it’s time you owe HP a new $50 for ink carts…
Yeah bambu needs to die in terms of marketshare. They tried to intimidate foss devs into pulling down their reverse engineered software to replace bambus garbage. Nobody should ever recommend bambu again.
My last printer was an Ender. Lots of mods and fiddling to get it running close to consistently! I had heard that Bambu is better but I haven’t had a chance to try it myself!
Don’t. Bambu doesn’t respect the licensing of the software they use, and they do not care about open source what so ever. They are not a positive contribution to the 3D printing space.

Not really.
Almost nothing in a paper printer is just a plastic part with 0.1mm accuracy.

Looks like you found the company doing that to 3D printers.
If you don’t mind the shit business, Bambu printers pretty much “just work”
At least compared to any Ender
My Ender 3 V3 (CoreXZ) has been perfect but I recommended the V3 SE to two people based on my experience but they’ve had nothing but issues 🫠
Bambu is working hard to make the bottom panel a reality for 3d printers as well. Their closed-door approach is the main reason I won’t touch them.

I still run my Ender3, upgrading to a Prusa core one+.
The first question everyone needs to ask about 3d printing is if you want the printer itself to be the project.
One of these days I’ll get around to calibrating the sprite hotend on my 3v2.
