    If we’re being pedantic, that’s still being hacked. Social engineering is, like, the #1 source of hacking.

      Is this even social engineering?

      According to Wikipedia:

      In the context of information securitysocial engineering is the use of psychological pressure to influence people to perform actions or divulge confidential information.

      No one got tricked or pressured, the helldesk employee was just following established procedure. They did exactly what they were supposed to do.

      It’s just that Sony’s procedures are laughably insecure.
