they already did mess up. they listened to all the racist fuckwits in America and removed as much of the pro anti-slavery stuff in the game as they could. and they fucked up on textures… lots of floating items in the air too. they fixed none of the bugs while introducing new ones. and don’t get me started on the hitbox trash. let’s just say that enemies can miss your ship by a very wide degree and still damage you, while you have to be pinpoint accurate.

I hope they just had the gore turned off for this preview. It’s weird seeing dudes run through with a sword and there’s no blood whatsoever.

They just released AC: Shadows last year… And this remake has been extremely wanted by fans for years.

Shadows must have done horrendously badly for Ubisoft to be dropping something they felt they knew for certain would be a money printer like Black Flag. Its the kind of remaster the company holds onto for when finances get really bad so they can guarantee at least something in rough waters.

Do you think they started working on Black Flag only after the Shadows reception? Game development takes a lot longer than that.

Remake or not, I’m honestly not excited by yet another 3rd person action adventure game. Been so many good ones last few years I’m just totally burned out on them. Maybe I’ll come back in a couple years when its 10 quid on Steam.

I’m revisiting old ones, loving Mad Max, was $2 on gog recently, and Rage is next. Went to buy it and is already in my steam library 🤣🤣

Will be doing some Far Cry games again after Rage.

Mad Max was of my favorites from that time.

I HIGHLY recommend The Sabateur as well. It’s not super polished, but it was really cool to clear out areas of Nazi-occupied Paris by any violent means necessary. I played it when it originally released.

Plus, that gameplay just seems *chef’s kiss here recently.

Like you, I bought it for a few dollars on GOG. It’s still good.

I’ll check it out, went through all the new wolfensteins recently too. My gog library is getting a lot of play, but not nearly as many games in it. Just tired of MP nonsense lately.

Reanimal and split Fiction were awesome split screen games I play with the kiddo

Ok… so… Fuck Ubisoft, don’t get me wrong. And nowadays, I’m not one to let myself get excited for these kind of things. But damn, it got to me. Black Flag is like, one of my biggest video game love. And during this entire trailer, I couldn’t help but be like: “It just looks like the original, what the hell?” and then, they would show images of the original and I’d be knocked on my ass. I know ti’s a cliché to say this, but it really looks like how I remembered it.

On top of that, they seem to have improved the game on many aspects, and it doesn’t look like the meddled too much with it. They’re keeping it safe for this one and I think it’s the best play. The combat improvement looks fantastic. The improvement to the mission structures couldn’t be more welcomed and now, the thing I’m hoping so much for is… did they kick the shit out of that god awful Abstergo story line that kept interrupting the game?

I swear to god, every time I replay this thing, I am filled with a constant sense of dread at the end of every mission, fearing that I’m going to be taken out of the game to go fuck around with an iPad in an office filled with the most insufferable people on the planet. At the very least, give me an option the skip the hell out of it. I don’t care about your “modern day timeline bullshit”, I really don’t.

Now. There is only one question remaining for me, as this is ubisoft and they’re kind of awful, will I buy this game, or…? 🏴‍☠️

It would be in the spirit of the game, after all. :3

It’s said that the modern day segment has been changed supposedly so let’s hope it’ll be better than what was.

I didn’t want the modern day segment at all. It just detracted from the main story.

Frankly for me I loved the modern day segments until they butchered it in 4 since it provided a cohesive link between all the games and was building up to a interesting modern day AC (which was killed due to AC3’s modern day ending). That said, if you’re not a long time player then I guess it does feel excessive.

It would be a good way to retcon and fix story decisions made previously at least.

Yeah that’s what I mean, I fully agree, once the original writers left and

            spoiler

            Desmond was killed

the modern day story went to crap, the “modern day” segments in Black Flag just got in the way.

You can buy the GTA3 Trilogy still on the Rockstar website. I dunno if its missing music from the original release like I heard several years ago, but im playing through old San Andreas now. You just can’t get it on steam.

Looks good so far, if it runs well that’s a neat surprise of the year. Fingers crossed it’s not 70€ lol.

I was referring to the portions where you have to wander that awful office building.

Wasn’t it Desmond in the office building? Anyway, this time Black Flag will only be in the pirate world. But they will change some parts from the original game so I’m kind of 50/50 if this game will be good or not. We’ll see when it is released.
