Ok… so… Fuck Ubisoft, don’t get me wrong. And nowadays, I’m not one to let myself get excited for these kind of things. But damn, it got to me. Black Flag is like, one of my biggest video game love. And during this entire trailer, I couldn’t help but be like: “It just looks like the original, what the hell?” and then, they would show images of the original and I’d be knocked on my ass. I know ti’s a cliché to say this, but it really looks like how I remembered it.
On top of that, they seem to have improved the game on many aspects, and it doesn’t look like the meddled too much with it. They’re keeping it safe for this one and I think it’s the best play. The combat improvement looks fantastic. The improvement to the mission structures couldn’t be more welcomed and now, the thing I’m hoping so much for is… did they kick the shit out of that god awful Abstergo story line that kept interrupting the game?
I swear to god, every time I replay this thing, I am filled with a constant sense of dread at the end of every mission, fearing that I’m going to be taken out of the game to go fuck around with an iPad in an office filled with the most insufferable people on the planet. At the very least, give me an option the skip the hell out of it. I don’t care about your “modern day timeline bullshit”, I really don’t.
Now. There is only one question remaining for me, as this is ubisoft and they’re kind of awful, will I buy this game, or…? 🏴☠️
It would be in the spirit of the game, after all. :3
Frankly for me I loved the modern day segments until they butchered it in 4 since it provided a cohesive link between all the games and was building up to a interesting modern day AC (which was killed due to AC3’s modern day ending). That said, if you’re not a long time player then I guess it does feel excessive.
It would be a good way to retcon and fix story decisions made previously at least.

It’s said that the modern day segment has been changed supposedly so let’s hope it’ll be better than what was.
I didn’t want the modern day segment at all. It just detracted from the main story.

Yeah that’s what I mean, I fully agree, once the original writers left and

Desmond was killed
the modern day story went to crap, the “modern day” segments in Black Flag just got in the way.
