I saw this chalked onto a pavement outside a house a few days ago. The kids who live there are 4 and 6. How do they know?

We literally don’t know! There’s a while anthropological study called child lore that focuses on the almost universal things that children share with each other and we still can’t actually find the origin of this.

My theory is it’s the true form of the yellow sign, the Lovecraftian rune that allows the eldrich being, Hastur, to exert his influence on mortals.

What even is this? I just remember in grade school kids would be yelled at for drawing it on assignments.
