Today’s game is Stardew Valley. And late. Way later than usual. I know I hit that upload button after typing a whole bit about how I respect concerned ape. So either I’m losing my grip on reality or something stopped it. So just this once I I’ll give myself a pass because I genuinely don’t know why the hell it didn’t get uploaded (though, to be honest I’m debating if I want to even leave the limit I imposed on myself. Everyone seems to enjoy it regardless of that).

Me and some friends played Stardew last night. One of my friends even got married. This is his first time playing Stardew so I helped him along getting the whole thing happening. Between what Penny likes and getting the Mermaid pendant. I even bought him a bunch of Melons to grow for her. It’s almost like seeing myself learn to play the game again. It’s entertaining.

I set up a shed too on my farm and filled it wine kegs. This is my “Keg Shed”. I make wine here and that’s it. I’ve also got a preserve barrel Keg though for my Fish Farm. So between those two I’ve got a pretty solid source of income.

Finally, and this is the part that makes me know for sure I did this last night, since we’re in winter I got to see everyone’s winter outfits. I hadn’t seen them until then but I like Haley and Shane’s.

That brings me to my other point. I have a lot of respect for concerned ape. He’s been doing this for around 10 years. That’s a hell of a commitment. Compared to my screenshots I’ve only been doing this for a little less than 2 years. I supposed he makes a living off it so it’s different. But still. It’s respectable that he continues to update it.

yeah, we have three copies between steam and playstation. it is my wife’s relax game, whereas any game is my relax game. it occupies one of those weird positions where we have that parasocial “we want CA to succeed so we have no problem buying another copy if we need to” spots in our psyche. especially at $15.

If you like Stardew, try out the series Rune Factory. They are very similar games only Rune Factory has a JRPG aesthetic and plot. With some light monster collecting to replace livestock.

I only played a bit of rune factory (I think 4) and it seemed like it was a ton of story and very controlled with the farming aspect. It could be I didnt play enough though

I didn’t finish 4 personally either, but it was my 5th time playing the same themes if the Wii entry is included. Fans of the series claim 4 to be the best plot and say it’s the most fleshed out- the longest of the entries’ stories apparently.

The first game is still my favorite as it was fresh then, it had a lot of QOL at the time that Harvest Moon didn’t yet.

The only unique farming mechanic in the game was that the different dungeons and temples had different climates allowing you to grow crops out of season in them. The dungeons have variety, and contain different creatures, but nothing too complex that it stops being a cozy game.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Concerned Ape took the inspiration of combat in the mine from Rune Factory, Stardew combat is like a simple version of it. (RF having more weapon variety, Magic Spell casting, and Monster taming. The lite fantasy RPG elements are what made me stick around).

The first one has a much simpler story, I think you should try it out, but the second entry lets you play as your child that you have with your spouse which is refreshing once you’re that far in the game. So that might be up your alley too!
