“I know someone who only did a murder once and they locked them right up. Suggest you reset your opinions a bit.”

    Replace murder with any crime.

If you don’t want to face the consequences, don’t do the action that begets the consequences.

TLDR: don’t fuck around if you don’t wanna find out.

Fun fact: In the US you can get a DUI for sleeping it off in your car, a passenger drinking while you drive (open container laws), or failing a bullshit coordination test graded by a racist cop without them ever checking your blood alcohol.

I am fully against drinking and driving, but there is definitely some bullshit out there like getting locked up for sleeping it off in your car. I’ve read plenty of stories about people getting arrested for merely approaching their car while drunk, and that shit gets me paranoid. I live in a place where I park on a busy street, and there have been times that I am having some drinks at home and I’m like “shit I gotta go get this thing from my car”. The fact that I can get arrested while going to get my backpack or whatever from my car because I have keys in my pocket and therefore have “intent to operate a vehicle under in influence” doesn’t sit well with me. Go find actual drunk drivers. I swear half the shit cops do is making up crimes because they can’t meet their quotas.

Also a fun fact: you could also just not drink and drive or allow others to drink in your car.

Interlock devices are the bare minimum if you insist on allowing people who have proven they will drive drunk to continue to drive.

I was arguing with the point of “repeatedly” being a determining factor for having to have this device. It’s not reality, once is enough.

When you consider that most people get away with a crime dozens of times at least before getting caught, then yes being caught once is enough.
