Hundreds died that day in riots around Beijing, from PLA officers firebombed to rioters killed by the PLA, but the square itself was evacuated bloodlessly. It’s also extremely chauvanist of you to claim western historians are “all historians around the world,” erasing Chinese historians themselves.
