  • my point is that those chokepoints are mainly designed to let the oil go out, and saudi arabia is in the red sea. if they wanted to they could use the suez canal as a worldwide route for oil export, even if it would be more expensive. and the houthis said only saudi ships are not allowed to transit, so it’s not like the suez or bab-el-mandeb are closed right now, they need to keep the economic incentive for other countries.

so what i’m saying is that saudi arabia could sail from the west of its country, go north to the suez and export oil to the us for example. or why do you think that’s not possible? i mean i’m all for them to completely control the red sea, don’t get me wrong, it’s just i think there’s that exit still.

  • yemen is at the south of the red sea, literally next to bab-el-mandeb. they control that area of the red sea, not the suez canal, which is way up north and connects with the mediterranean, egypt controls that. i haven’t read anything claiming they have complete control over the whole of the red sea, only that area where they can target boats leaving the red sea through the strait.

  • it really bothers me how common imperial speak is that when we actually name things as they should we are the ones being pointed at. calling occupied korea “south korea” should be comparable to calling people slurs. it is literally accepting and endorsing that fascism could and should rule the “lesser people”. hawaii is a colony, puerto rico is a colony, japan is colony, korea is a colony, and so on, and so on, and so on.

this kind of shit ppl say about latam countries is dumb af tbh. yes, all of latam was formed as settler colonies but why on earth would you want to balkanize global south countries? if anything, and it’s what we latinos been wanting to do, we should unite and build la patria grande. in the majority of cases we do not care that there are a ton of different ethnic groups, we rather unite. this is not to say certain groups shouldn’t receive more autonomy or even their own governance over their land, but it would be the equivalent to balkanize china because they have different ethnic groups.
