man the invective people put out against strippers / sex workers is wild to me.
getting genuinely angry because someone gets paid to show their junk, in this world of trillionaire asshole capitalists just seems so fucking misguided.
like, I’m not into feet, so sex stuff with feet is kinda - shrug - ok whatever - but getting angry at someone who’s smart enough to know they have feet, they’re willing to take pictures of the feet, and that there are people out there willing to pay for said pics - and complete the loop and make it earn for them?
why would anyone get angry about that? fuck the let this vile creature out of jail, and y’all are angry someone got paid for porn?
That’s the whole conservative narrative: The success of the sex worker, the minority, the queer, is at the expense of the moral white man. All to distract that the actual reason things are worse is because of the rich man.
The problem is more with the perception of disrupting the “correct” social hierarchy. Conservatives have no trouble taking money from, or being served by their “lessers” in society. This includes sex workers. It’s when the underclass elevate themselves or exceed their “betters” do they have a problem.
In this case: driving a big showy pickup truck - a coveted symbol of buying power - that shouldn’t be obtainable.
I have a Native American friend. Her tribe is small so they only have a relatively small plot as their reservation. So they slapped a casino there and she makes bank by simply being a tribe member.
I asked if she’s okay with that since I would feel bad making money off of peoples gambling addiction and she said
“I don’t feel bad for white people.”
And honestly
I don’t think that’s a completely shocking take consider all of american history
But also
Its certainly a similar sentiment among sex workers I’ve met so its not an unfounded accusation.
This is very much a “if your eye is causing you to sin, pluck it out” moment, but still
i agree with almost everything you’re saying in here (i like to quibble over minor semantics but pfff. sex work is real work and all workers deserve dignity and respect) but i’m just cracking up that we run into each over here and you’re going HOO RAH SEX WORK. party on frodo

we need better priorities as a species.

Mildly related.

depressingly plausible
