    I see this propagated on the internet, but I get curious on whether or not it’s actually true or something that someone made up and got telephoned around the world.

      Probably the latter, because we don’t really know. It’d be a tough one to study properly. The prevailing hypothesis (which is nonetheless only a hypothesis) is that pooping stimulates a cat’s vagus nerve, causing “fecal elation,” a.k.a. poophoria.

      Yeah I don’t measure fecal sizes from my animals usually but I feel like the cat does it near every time, even the rare occasion he’s constipated and can’t poop.

      When he had a UTI I feel like he did it after he couldn’t pee as well.
