What am I missing? As far as I can tell this is a great example of several groups of people successfully outrunning a fire.
you’re watching a video of a fire truck being by overwhelmed by a bushfire without the fire suppression systems they would be dead

Indeed, never try to outrun a bush fire. Stand your ground, make yourself look big, and intimidate it by staring it down.
After watching, it seems like running away worked. What am I missing?
Not much of a shit post
My GoPro overheats while recording out my windshield on a sunny day
Damn nature, you scary
So, was that a fire truck with the camera? Looked like it was dumping water on itself a couple different times. Was there someone in it? How scary!
Yeah there was, they have burn over protection in case they get overrun by fire, this one from South Australia for example has a few features:
Key features standard across all response vehicles:
- Cabin deluge systems for cabin glass protection.
- In-cabin breathing systems for crew oxygen supply for burn over events.
- Cabin crew protection (window curtains, where required) as radiant heat shields.
- In-cabin pump control to enable operation of Cabin Deluge from the cab.
- Under-cabin heat shields to reduce radiant heat penetration of cabin structures.
- Tyre spray systems to reduce radiant heat.
- Updated visibility markers to new safety standards to improve fleet visibility on fire grounds and when responding.
Okay but what is the alternative for these people?
Have a bushfire plan and prepare well in advance:

What a dumb thing to say. Did the fire truck and the cop have a plan in the video in the video you linked other than “let’s fucking outrun this brushfire”?
firstly please calm down, there’s no need to be upset
the direction to not outrun a bush fire is for civilians, not people who put themselves in the line of fire as part of their job
As someone who lives in a colder climate, this was eye opening. New fear unlocked.
Nature is frightening, when that town in California was burnt down completely within hours I was kind of shocked, I thought that was a thing of the past
Admiral Cloudberg did an amazing write-up of the Paradise fire. She usually duplicates her Reddit articles on Medium, but I don’t think she did with this one 😔
Get used to it, climate change will definitely worsen it.
Apparently most of it hasn’t been rebuilt too so…the effects could be permanent in many places
