Actually, it’s stupider, the original meth subreddit made rules against posting images of drug use because reddit admins were breathing down their necks, some of the userbase deemed that censorship to be communist because something something 1984. Except, obviously, it was done because advertisers don’t want to advertise next to drug use. So it’s literally classic Americans calling the negative consequences of capitalism communism

The cigar sub used to be one of the best communities, then Reddit banned us from trading or even mentioning it. Many users went over to places like slack. In the mean time an idiot became a mod and trashed the community that was left. So a second cigar community was created for the ability to even post pictures and discussions. Neither sub is anything like what made the community so greata few years ago.

No, I don’t have time to run a sub. I did that 3 times on Reddit and I’m done with that. I’ve got to much going on in the real world.

And way less. It’s still a meth community. If I head to a mushroom community, I’ll see mushroom identification and cooking. If I stroll down to the clothing store, I’ll find clothes and accessories.

That Reddit is demanding the ability to advertise to meth addicts but only when they make their space more visually palatable, effectively gentrifying a corrosive community, is just peak capitalism.

Isn’t that what the “quarantined subreddit” feature was added for? Advertisers that don’t want their ad next to a picture of meth use most likely don’t want their ads in a methamphetamine subreddit in general

How do you know this drama? Like my head is also full of useless internet drama, but this specific drama I feel like requires some origination explanation.

Well, if you browse any of the drug related subreddits on reddit you can’t really miss it. Heck, I browse almost only /r/steroids and I knew about it
