    People get so worked up over AI-generated memes. They’re just memes, folks. They’re not taking away anyone’s livelihood, and they’re not going to be hung in the Louvre. They’re ephemeral.

      Except that to make that shit they wasted 10x times the resources that are needed to change the text from the original meme with photoshop/GIMP/whatever and contributed to damage artists by using a collage machine of other people’s art

        This is what happens when you refuse to actually understand how anything works. These kinds of images can now be generated by small models running on your laptop. For example, Z-Image Turbo is just 6b params and will run on even modest hardware.

            One made up number is no better than another. The point is that generating images doesn’t take any more power than most other things people use a computer for. So, what makes it so special that is needs to be singled out?

            Then how else does it “damage artists”? And how much damage is that in comparison to the damage the former status quo did to people who weren’t considered “artists”?
