My recommendation: https://mornye.com/
Supports multiple music services, use whichever service you want to find music, rip metadata from whichever has the most complete, then rip the music from whichever has the highest quality (yes, FLAC). Drop your spotify playlist and it will download all of it. The sublime embedding of lyrics and ReplayGain tags. My god, it even has a builtin player and library management, available on mobile and desktop.
Cool app! No idea how to get my Spotify account to work on it but was able to get web access set up after a bit of searching.
And of course, this happens at the same time as they’re announcing a price increase
‘Burn baby burn’ is possibly the most appropriate song for them
TIL that there are dozens of websites to find strangers to put on their own family plan to get some extra cash, meanwhile they will manage the payments
I wouldn’t have imagined that there would be that many.
Paying a third party service to get into a stranger’s family plan is against the ToS, so at that point, if you’re willing to go against the ToS you can do it for free
Just? He’s been providing receipts for at least a couple of years.Apologies, clicked wrong thread.
anyone suprised?
Soulseek, people. Just pirate things and send money directly to artists (or buy merch). Fuck all these streaming companies
I have 8k albums in my personal collection, but I’ve been building it for years, most everything is pirated or shared between friends or purchased on bandcamp. I stream it while via plexamp when I’m working or not at home, it’s very nice.
I can also connect to my friends Plex servers. My one friend has 35k albums.
in case someone doesn’t believe me hahaEdit: damn he’s up to 39k
If they want it to be a household plan, they should call it that instead of falsely advertising it as a family plan.
Exactly. Families are extremely varied in logistics and presentation… Businesses in their ivory towers imagine a stereotypical nuclear family where everybody lives in the same house. Out of 5 families I personally know; only one fits that description.
I need to get a RED account, ugh, the entrance test seems annoying but I want to selfhost my own music.
Soulseek is pretty decent for music
This is desperation just like the disney ad thing.
“analysts are confident that music streaming services such as Spotify can enforce strict account policies, raise prices, and still make more money.”
They looked at Netflix and Disney and they are right. This is a no brainer if you’re a business. There’s literally no downside other than angry comments online.
Normies are getting into Stremio and normies will eventually get into a music pirating app if this continues.
What is this Stremio you speak so freely of?
Stremio + torrentio + real debrid into your favorite search engine or ai and you will find the way.
Iptv is another option but it’s a bit less user friendly on getting an account.
Stremio is basically Netflix if it had any movie or show you could ever dream of once set up correctly.
Thank you. I was asking for a friend and they are very happy now.
This won’t really make them more money. Considering there’s better services like YouTube Music.
There’s even better services like Soulseek and rutracker!
If you’re going to pay for music, buy it DRM free on bandcamp etc, or CDs and rip them, you can make multiple copies and anyone in your family can play them at any time. Shitify is a joke.

Take picture of QR on primary phone. Send photo with QR to people on the family plan
@404found
This is not a measure against your extended family or close group of friends. This is to prevent selling to or sharing with strangers.
@return2ozmaThey are not that dumb. Apparently the code changes every few minutes (or seconds). Just a matter of time until they also check geolocation and/or IP during the scan.
Actually they probably already have geolocation enabled because the article says the family member needs to be at the same location when they scan the code.
I guess family plans are for members who live at the same house. If someone moves away to college then they can’t be a part of the family anymore.
I mean a simple video call where you share you screen, and some network thing/config might solve that? If they’re not given exact/precise location on eg your phone, will they default to country/city? There must be some workarounds to these silly things.
You can spoof a lot with enough motivation. But it’s likely inconvenient enough that it will “catch” 90% of the targets.
Who has that kind of motivation could also just pirate everything
I’m not on Spotify, but I’d like to use Qobuz. Sadly it’s not available where I live. The idea is great though, listen whatever I want with an option to purchase drm free albums I like the most.
