No no no, op, you’re completely missing the message. JUST vote. Nothing more. Just vote.

The implication being “what’s the point if you’re just choosing which boot?”

But like… that really actually matters. They’re never going to be on your side. So take the opportunity to choose your opponent. Make it a favorable matchup.

For a few years, and in the meantime, by consistently choosing the “lesser evil”, you ensure there is no political organization in power that stands in opposition to capitalism and you push the Overton window rightward. So they never actually attack the fundamental problems because it goes against their ideology, things continue to get worse, and the public starts looking rightward for a solution because there is no left option.

The Democrats moving rightward is a documented fact but even with that pattern, people are still like “just vote blue”. Trump was elected in reaction toward Obama, whose greatest achievement was a Heritage Foundation based health care plan. Now, a Heritage Foundation policy becomes lumped with “leftism”. Clinton embraced neoliberalism following Reagan. Etc etc

By not offering a real alternative (and every leftist org was already on the right side of social issues so not sure why people champion Dems on these. Jfc, dems took until like 2012 to “evolve” on most of them) to neoliberal capitalism, then fascist populism starts looking more appealing to parts of the public.

Here, I’ll pre-emptively boil any answers you recieve down to their chemical baseline:

“The fact that it isn’t happening to me”
