minus-squareGeneralEmergency@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkarrow-up0·2 days agoThe LM-GTP (a continuation of the GT1 class) class was dropped in the early 2000s. After it was consolidated along with the LMP900 class into a new LMP1 class. While LMP675 class was dropped. LMP1 continued under various rulesets up until 2021. When the ACO and IMSA merged their two respected top classes. Creating the Hypercar class across both series. Made up of cars following either the FIA Hypercar or LMDh formula.
minus-squareBeardedGingerWonder@feddit.uklinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up0·2 days agoI was hoping the latest ruleset would bring a few homologation specials, but alas not. In my opinion homologation specials from both Le Mans and Rally have brought forth some of the most iconic cars of all time, it’s a shame that’s gone away.
minus-squarebrucethemoose@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkarrow-up0·1 day agoIsn’t the Aston Martin Valkyrie sorta a homoligation special? But… yeah. I thought Koenigsegg would do one for sure, given their first car was literally built for GT1.
minus-squareBotzo@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkarrow-up0·2 days agoYes: IMSA (US Series) and WEC (EU/Intl.) https://youtube.com/@imsaofficial https://youtube.com/@fiawec

minus-squarebaldingpudenda@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkarrow-up0·2 days ago The cars are 1150mm, or about 46 inches, tall and weigh 1000KG. They’re very small. here’s a driver change
minus-squareburt@programming.devlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up0·2 days agoYes! and they are getting weirder.
minus-squareidegenszavak@sh.itjust.workslinkfedilinkarrow-up0·2 days agoPeak weirdness was around 2012 with this thing: (Nissan Deltawing) The punk peugeot was a bit oout of ordinary in the latest years, nowadays they all look very similar, but at least the races are good!
minus-squareWhiteOakBayou@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkarrow-up0·2 days agoThat Deltawing looks sad because it was obviously designed for two friends to tool around in but instead it just has the one driver.
minus-squareLyD@lemmy.calinkfedilinkarrow-up0·2 days agoA lot of these cars are “two” seaters because of the rules (realistically they only fit one)
Do they still race these weird cars?
