Why’s stuff in Aussie always skin-crawling-creepy? Nasty poisonous spiders on the wall, and now this? Just how did this crawl up there and plug itself in is what I want to know.

The big wall spiders you see from Australia are totally harmless, it’s the little ones that live underground you gotta watch out for. But even so we’re probably the safest country in the world to get bitten by a spider

Why? Do you have antidotes for all common venomous spiders readily available, or are there just not that many of them in reality?

There are precisely two meaningfully dangerous spiders. Redbacks and Sydney Funnelwebs. The former keep to themselves, and the latter have an attitude problem because they have to live in Sydney

Both are covered by a antivenin that all paramedics and emergency rooms keep.

Nobody has died from a spider bite in Australia since 1979. The Sydney funnelweb antivenin was developed in 1980.

        For all the bad reasons
